I'm currently in my last year of high school, right now I'm in a situation where I'm at home most of the week, only going out once or twice. You'd think I'd be able to get my shit done but I'm actually doing subpar in school, and literally nothing but browsing the internet and eating shitty food all day.

I know how to cook and I have the ingredients but I just eat ramen, I know I have to study but I just browse the internet which doesn't even make me laugh anymore, I just feel numb when I do anything really.

My daily schedule consists of getting up late, dicking around, then handing in my assignments the day they're due, usually resulting in a shitty grade.

How do I build discipline? I don't want to fuck up my life.

Start with working out, it's a reason to go out (gym), also, arrange yourself a tight schedule and don't skip anything on it, even if you stare the books the entire time you budget yourself to learn. My best advice for you is don't think about it just get up and do it (with the help of alarm clock maybe).

In the summer I did actually sign up for the gym, I got a pretty good deal for the gym I go to, free weights, great view, and the works. I try to go at least once a week , I follow the 5x5 routine. I haven't done much dieting though I mostly eat whatever.

The trick is not to think too much or place too much emphasis on it. You'll dread it that way. The solution is to "just do it", by viewing it as an essential routine that you do. Eg. Brushing teeth in the morning is a routine

One thing to consider, there might be chemicals reason for your lack of willpower.

Your diet is not just a consequence of it, it could also be the cause. A common misconception about obesity is that people get fat because they don't exercise. The fact is, they can't exercise for the same reason they get fat: insulin overload. Eliminate sugar. Then reduce carbs. Replace with more proteins and fat. Try /r/keto.

edit: medium chain triglycerides (MCT) found mostly in coconut oil have a significant boosting effect for me. Consider a bulletproof coffee for breakfast. Sweeten with xylitol/stevia/erythritol or not at all.

Vitamin D (which is not found in the diet in significant amounts) deficiency is also worth considering. Supplement it, either by getting plenty of midday sun exposure in summer, and with pills in winter.

Then you might have ADHD and/or a sleep disorder, as I do (ADHD and idiopathic hypersomnia). Shit is linked to a deficiency in dopamine pathways in the frontal lobe, and severely impair your self-control. If your case is nearly as bad as mine, the only option is hard core medication (stims and more stims).

Im not an insomniac, but as for ADHD I have no idea, the pediatrician never said anything but who knows? I'll try to get more proteins though and I do take a vitamin c and d supplement, but I'll be taking those regularly from now on.

I'm not insominac, I'm hypersomniac ... almost the same thing except for the fact that it's the complete opposite. :)

Dude, its scary how similar we are. Same age and everything

The good news is that it's really easy to start developing a better life. The easy part for me is just doing it. I started doing a dozen or so pushups like two or three weeks ago and i didn't even think about it, I just did it. So as far as living a more interesting/fulfilling/purposeful life, just think of cool shit and do it. That's my motto: don't worry, and do cool shit. Those two rules are so fundamental. What's cool shit? Making money. Taking care of yourself and others. Working out. Practicing your wittiness in social scenarios. Think of cool shit and do it one at a time. Eventually you will have built up a legacy of cool habits, and you'll be a cool dude! That's the goal man.

Its nice to see TRP attracts guys like me as well, one of the few good things I did over summer break is get a job and hit the gym so I got the stepping stones for getting shredded and gettin stacks, thanks man.

A quote that really struck a chord with me from Joey Diaz's podcast the other week: "The worst thing a man can do is think" - you just have to DO. Your actions will define you more than your thoughts, choose something you want to do and DO IT, don't think about it, just do

[–]ForcesMTAria[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I've found this to be true alot, whenever I have to take a plunge and do something scary it helps to just shut off my brain and just do it.

[–]SOND_PCUM2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The simple answer is to just get off your ass and do productive shit. you are here though, and that means you lack that inner power. Its cool man. We are all on the road to self mastery, whether we know it or not.

What is the most productive thing you can be doing right now instead of jacking off, youtube/reddit/4chan time wasting etc?? close that laptop and make a list. Write it down and just START. Its that easy. stand up. Jot down 3 productive things that you can do right now to improve your mind/body/environment. Make plans to hang out with a friend and do something cool instead of fucking around smoking and playing xbox. Read up on current scientific developments or clean your room. I know that room is a mess.

Also, instant 'ramen' is fucking nasty dude.. Cut that shit out. A better diet with even minimal exercise will make massive changes to your mood, motivation and overall peace with the world

Read "The War of Art" (yes, like that, not to be confused with The Art of War"). It is about this precisely.

[–]ForcesMTAria[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

I'll have a look at it, thanks

It is essentially to open your eyes. It is not about motivation, it is all about discipline. great book. I heard about it first recommended by Bas Rutten, MMA legend.

This helped me survive high school. Fucking drama dweebs would patronize me and/or whoop my ass. This site opened my eyes to the soft lies that kept screwing my over (things like BuzzFeed, Occupy WallStreet, feminism, communism, the damned anime memes/Tumblr. This site validated my instincts, told me that I had the vision to know what I could become, even considering what I was.

I was "casually" searching "how to stop masturbating" my 10th grade summer, as it was hampering my gains, making me feel weak, and I found an article on the site. (Coincidentally, mentions of TRP is also the reason I joined Reddit).

"How to Conquer the Fear of Success" is the brutally motivating thing I have ever experienced.

there's been a lot of people that thought and did the same things you did. That's not to diminish your distress, but to let you know with certainty that this is only a phase in life a lot of us have gone through. You've probably just never fully experienced the intoxicating experience of being in full control of yourself. You've got to get your shit together and start building the man you want to be, cause it is only up to you (actually society it's pretty happy with someone who has 0 willpower, eat junk foods and surive with some casual job). Don't study only because it interests or stimulates you. Do the opposite, just beat the shit out of the book cause you can do it and you're the man and you're in full control . it's a game with yourself mostly, you have to learn to not trust yourself (at least not every part of it, you've got some very lazy parts), and ridiculize yourself for even having tried to get into the old habits. good luck!

I'm also a senior in high school. I'm still working on myself too, but here's my advice.

  • Go to the gym every other day (or MWF, or whatever if you follow a program). This will solidify it as a habit, and you'll actually get gains. Lifting will seriously put your life in easy mode. Also, going once a week isn't very cost-efficient. Get those noob gainz!
  • Your eating habits sound like shit. From a 3rd person perspective, it seems pretty clear that you'll feel like shit if you eat like shit.

  • You have a problem with procrastination. I can't really help you here; I have this problem too. As long as you're aware of it, you can kind of deal with it. Just set a time. "No more fucking around after 5:00 pm."

I can't do any of this shit for you man. No one is going to change your life for you. I don't care if this post gets a thousand likes and 400 comments, it's up to you to change your life. If you've swallowed the red pill, you know that no one gives a fuck about males in this world. Do you really think anyone out there cares if you fall into a life of mediocrity?

My greatest advice for you is to work on your habits. Humans are creatures of habit. Use this to your advantage. Good luck man. I hope this helps you.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
