Ask IllimitableMan (self.asktrp)

submitted by TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan

I don't help out here with the new guys as much as I'd like to, so leave a question related to TRP within the hour of this topic being posted (not a personal one, this isn't an AMA) and I will endeavour to answer you in the comments. If you miss the hour mark, you'll get ignored, sorry - can't spend all evening answering random questions. Also, try not to post essays.

It's easier for me to do this than manually hand pick threads. I may do this from time to time, to help guys out. We'll see. Fire away.

Edit: Question time's over now, this was fun. Until next time.

What thoughts or techniques do you find useful in actually executing your plans?

Basically anything that helps me be healthy in both body and mind, without health, you have no SMV. If chad thundercock gets a disorder tomorrow which means he never has any energy, it doesn't matter how cute he is, he won't even have the health to fuck or make jokes.

  • You need to shred your ego/escape your comfort zone to make improvements and subject yourself to new experiences that will help you grow. This will humble you and improve your SMV, but it won't make you a pussy magnet, This is substance.

  • On the flip side egoless men are not attractive to women. When you're not in any kind of monk mode or self-improvement, always have an egotistical superiority yourself. Don't take women seriously, this should be your style. "How do I summon this, how do I value myself?" Well you've been reading and lifting and doing all kinds of wicked shit right? Well there's your logical reason for why you're a boss and she's not. What do you think that bitch you're attracted to does? Does she lift? Read? Meditate? No. She's just a vagina, don't pedestalise, be better and you'll believe you're better.

  • Don't eat fuck loads of carbs and sugar, eat mostly fat and protein, it will make you feel good. I'm trying out intermittent fasting for the first time at the moment. It's early days so I can't really give my opinion on it, but spending 16-18 hours of your life on an empty stomach with no digestion going on and nothing but one or two coffee's/water to keep you going is strangely rejuvenating.

  • Workout everyday, if you can't lift, work a different body part or get on the floor and do a few sets of pressups. Anything. If strength training is really out the window, then jog, HIIT, sprint, or whatever. Just get an endorphin spike every day. Just exercise. It'll make you a better you.

  • Meditate. This is good for concentration and clarity of mind.

  • Drop toxic people you may have in your life. If people don't believe in you they will hold you back. People who know you as "old you" and won't support you in being "new you" are included in this.

  • Read books, especially stoic philosophy. And The 48 Laws of Power.

TLDR: read, lift, diet, meditate and believe that you're the shit for doing all that. Most people don't - ESPECIALLY women, who are lazy as fuck and entitled for the most part.

If you're doing IF you should be eating carbs + protein at the beginning of breaking your fast and gradually move towards higher fat foods towards the end of your 6-8 hour feeding window. Your largest meal should be your first meal. Your meals might look like this:

Meal 1: 60% Carbs | 30% Protein | 10% Fat (or less)

Meal 2: 40% Carbs | 30% Protein | 30% Fat

Meal 3: 40% Carbs | 30% Protein | 30% Fat

On days you don't lift you should decrease your carb intake substantially and increase your protein / fat intake. If you're looking to lose body fat I might suggest eating more calories on the days you lift and less on the days you don't. On days you don't lift yeah you can consume higher fat foods but if you focus instead on eating more protein this does two things:

A. Protein has a higher thermic effect of feeding (25%) compared to fat/carbs (10%). This means it takes 25% of the calories from eat G of protein to even break the macronutrient down into amino acids so that it might be absorbed.

B. When you're in a caloric deficit you want to minimize the amount of muscle being broken down and converted into kcal via gluconeogenesis. By consuming more protein rather than fats you're ensuring that you're maintaining normal levels of amino acids in the blood stream (homeostasis) so that the body doesn't need to break down it's actual muscle tissue to maintain normal blood amino acid levels.

I'm a former Marine veteran thats been a personal trainer for four years now. I've trained multiple people for bikini / fitness competitions and know how to get people down to extremely low levels of body fat.

I myself eat using IF (3500kcal / Day) but know this: It's no more effective than any other method of eating for fat loss. When choosing an eating method that you plan to adopt for a long period of time you must ensure it is realistic to stick to for the long term and you must ensure that it works with your schedule. If you have a family and kids this might not be the best option for you. Message me if you want realistic alternatives and I'll match you with an eating protocol that will fit your lifestyle.

Don't let IF be an excuse to not eat if you're skinny and trying to gain muscle. The reason you're skinny is because you're not eating. Don't let IF be an excuse to eat whatever you want because you're starving your ass off. There will be days when the only thing that rules your mind in the mornings are junk foods such as doughnuts. You must have the self discipline to ignore these urges and focus on being productive.

All in all, I love IF. I do a high volume training routine around 2PM and afterwards begin breaking my fast with a 1600-2000 kcal weight gain shake. This allows me to be hungry enough later to eat two separate 750 kcal meals to meet my 3500 kcal goal. At 9-10PM I do treadmill sprints. This causes an EPOC effect which puts you into an oxygen debt, causing your body to burn more calories over the next 6-36 hours, which is advantageous because most calories burned during exercise come from carbohydrates and since your body gets more of it's calories from fat when at rest, with the EPOC effect putting you into an oxygen debt, your body is burning more calories from fat while you're sleeping. This is doubly advantageous with IF because there's also a perfect linear relationship with the duration of a fast and the amount of fat being burned for fuel.

Do you ever worry you're going to be handicapped when you meet a girl whom you find attractive that also lifts, reads and meditates?

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 2 points3 points  (6 children)

    No.

    [–]PipingHotSoup 0 points1 point  (5 children)

    Why though?

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Why though what? Your question is unclear.

    [–]PipingHotSoup 4 points5 points  (3 children)

If you consistently place value most highly on looks, (for me its like 80-85% as I get a lot of value from girls willing to explore fetishes) and derive your internal ability to succeed with girls based on not-pedestalising due to realizing you do awesome things and she doesn't, aren't you only setting yourself up to be with hot girls who do non-awesome things?

Part of TRP theory is ostensibly irrational confidence, and you're preaching rational confidence. Seems like making a habit of rationalizing why you're better than her is going to always keep you a couple steps behind. I've known at least a couple guys that were complete schmoes with rich beautiful girlfriends, abd they certainly aren't lifting/ reading philosophy like we do.

Do you think a focus on rational confidence might undermine your future ability to generate irrational confidence?

Hope that's a little clearer- kind of pertinent in my life as I'm seeing more educated girls now.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Do you think a focus on rational confidence might undermine your future ability to generate irrational confidence?

This is where one must compartmentalise. Unfortunately, the man you want to be, and the man who is fuckable to women - is two different men. A man should strive to be learned in all ways, and to appreciate himself, knowledge and power before fun. A woman admires a mighty brute, a man of excessive confidence, courage, valour and resources - but cares little for the inner mechanisms of man beyond that. Perhaps if such a man is emotionally broken, she is attracted to the illusion of being able to fix such dysfunction, but beyond that her interest of your psyche, your reason - it is negligible.

What you build for yourself, what you want for yourself - is distinct from the persona, the charisma you exude around women. Unfortunately, women never "love you for you" unless "you" is a damaged psychopath she wishes to fix, or an irrationally confident brute with blessed genetics. In more crude terms: being rational, just and learned (in and of itself, not for wealth) is not synonymous with being fuckable. In fact, they are at odds. The person as a man you most likely want to be, outside the realm of sexuality, is not the same man you need to be to do well within the realm of sexuality. So thus you must be two men - a man of his own creation, and a man that women will fuck. If you are a nerd and women don't like nerds? Don't stop being a nerd. That's who you are, you will never escape it even if you deny it - but learn how to portray yourself as the nonchalant brute too.

Us mere mortal men, in an age of feminism, cannot successfully procreate and be men of substance that are not exploited by the whims of women without being more than one type of man. A brute is attractive to women, but he lacks substance. An intellectual is not attractive to women (if he were, it would be for his status not his intellect) but he is full of substance.

Women tend to lack substance - they are looking for fun, protection and resources - not cognitive substance. Regardless of age, there are few women who seriously give merit to the political and philosophical problems of the world, who would prioritise reason over "having a good time."

You are you, you are also who she needs you to be, to be attracted to you. She will always want to know "real you" the less confident you, the more rational, self-doubting, socratic you - but she will never appreciate him like you do. He isn't sexy, he's smart. To women, such a man is weak at worst, boring at best. "Girls just wanna have fun," after all. She will only appreciate your bravado, which is why such a thing exists to begin with. You can be truer to yourself in the company of men, than you can with women without being penalised for a lack of sexual attractiveness. Compartmentalise.

    [–]PipingHotSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of age, there are few women who seriously give merit to the political and philosophical problems of the world, who would prioritise reason over "having a good time."

Yeah, and one sad thing about prettiness is how it can get you so involved in your ego you forgo other pursuits. It's almost as if lack of physical attractiveness is a prerequisite for intense discipline in the mental arts (they're not having their time sucked up by male attention, haha) Personal beauty is one way the ego can pull you in and I'd say the few women who I really appreciate in this regard (wendy mcelroy, ayn rand) are just not the most attractive people- although I certainly accept their work was written far after the peak of their SMV.

    [–]Pill_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really nice, deep question!

    [–]London-Bananas 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Intermittent fasting all the way. It's more convenient, it's easier to control your nutrient intake and you have way more energy.

Do you recommend cutting carbs all the way down, like a keto diet?

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for everyone as genetics vary, but I feel a lot healthier on a 50/35/15 fat/protein/carb split. Carbs make me tired as fuck, get brain fog, can't cut etc. Probably a gluten thing.

    [–]Endorsed Contributorbalalasaurus 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I'm on keto personally. Not because I needed to lose weight but the idea of the diet appealed to me. I can honestly say I feel so much better since I took it up. More energy, deeper sleep, stronger workouts and generally better mood-wise. If you're thinking of going keto, I'd recommend you do.

    [–]dr_dreadlifts 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Keto, all the way. Everything about me feels better when I maintain the keto lifestyle. Not to mention the benefits that cholesterol has on you testosterone levels.

    [–]AnalLeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah man. Got tested and mine is at 750 ng/dl. Don't forget the saturated fats which have been shown to boost your test!

    [–]London-Bananas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright because I think I tried it about a year ago, but the "transition" made me absultely miserable. I remember day 3 where my body was screaming for carbs and I ended up eating sugar with a spoon lol.

Might actually try it again this time

    [–]openwaves 6 points7 points  (12 children)

Illimitable Man, you could work on some sort of daily affirmation men could take, tell themselves, read in the morning, etc. essentially reminding themselves of "taking the red pill" regularly. If there is anyone to write this, it would be you. What do you think?

Ex. Napoleon Hill's confidence and purpose affirmations in "Think and Grow Rich"

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 11 points12 points  (7 children)

you could work on some sort of daily affirmation men could take, tell themselves, read in the morning, etc.

Are you saying I should write things that men can read on a daily basis that reminds them what it is to be a man/how the world really is and how women really are? To an extent, my twitter feed fills that function, although that isn't it's intent per se.

If I've misinterpreted you, I'm going to need you to elaborate more.

    [–]RiseAboveRuin 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I meant a maxim that clarifies the RP thoughts/understandings a man should keep throughout his day that will help him influence his actions in the right way. This will be especially useful for the recently unplugged.

Although there are many things to keep in mind, it would be condensed into a few paragraphs. Consider The Self Confidence Formula As you scroll down Chapter 3 of TAGR. A maxim one repeats to one self. It's a tall order, but you'd be the man for the job.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, I think I follow your sentiment now. It's a novel idea. I'll consider it.

As someone who recently found TRP should I be cold-approaching women even before I join a gym, get new clothes, and find a job? I read conflicting things where people say that you should cold-approach while improving yourself, and others saying that you should get these things in order first. Also, I sometimes feel uncomfortable implementing some of the ideas of the Dark Triad, such as narcissism. Is this a deep seated BB issue, or would you say that everyone has different morals?

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 22 points23 points  (2 children)

should I be cold-approaching women even before I join a gym, get new clothes, and find a job?

My opinion is no. Some people think the meaning of life is approaching women all the time so you don't lose the skill and "feel comfortable around women." Personally I think focussing on women when you need to fix yourself is foolish, it's time better spent on you than worrying about women. What happens if you do good and get into a relationship before you've properly swallowed TRP/improved yourself? You go back to your old ways, eventually she dumps you and it's square one again.

would you say that everyone has different morals?

You have the morals you were taught. Narcissism is really just believing you're better than everyone else, which is like cat nip to kittens when it comes to women. You don't need to be a narcissist in the most clinical sense of the term, but you need to genuinely believe you are better than women to convey an attitude that is attractive to them.

      [–]Zalo4 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Hey, thank you for the reply though I'm a little confused as you said yes to cold-approaching women before improving yourself, but you should spend time focusing on yourself.

Theism of most kinds generally helps with the creation and maintenance of family. Family is the building block of any sophisticated civilization and is necessary. For that reason, and that reason only, I'm pro-theist. When a superior alternative to theism for creating strong families comes along, I will no longer support theism. Atheists always say to me "there has to be something better than religion, religion's not the answer" and yet, they offer no alternatives.

Also: old school Christianity was RP as fuck, feminism has corrupted the church in America and made it feminist-friendly.

      [–]TruckerJohn 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Nietzsche's alternative is the best alternative. Nihilism and ambivalence toward the metaphysical, but with a passionate sense of purpose about the self and ones instincts and sense of purpose (one's dreams, calling, career, fitness, etc.). It scratches the itch for some kind of "answer" while contiuing to encourage growth. THe end goal becomes being the strongest version of yourself so you may contribute to te progress of the race and the production of the "ubermensch."

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ubermensch is definitely a solid Nietzschean concept.

      [–]Lemon_in_your_anus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only in western society is theism required for maintaining a family, If you look at traditional easter clan structures, their family structures are strong yet relies little on theism.

Related talk: Church Ladies - MGTOW

      [–]ckp2906 3 points4 points  (8 children)

At my university, there's a project "tool" that require us in the study group, to each talk about our feelings that day, and 2 good and 2 bad things.

As far as i know, it ruins my frame and is not very TRP'ish to talk about feeling with random student. What do you suggest? I can't just refuse. Lie?

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 24 points25 points  (7 children)

      Make a mockery of it.

      2 Good things:

      • I am the shit
      • My friends are the shit

      2 bad things:

      • Those poor african children
      • That shit you heard on the news going on in baltimore

Don't take the exercise seriously, that's a bullshit exercise by the way. FORCING you to open up. What the fuck is wrong with your university. If they say "those aren't proper answers" and push you for your real feelings, immediately flip it on them and say you feel they're creating a hostile learning environment where you are forced to divulge inner personal information you are not comfortable sharing. "My feelings, my choice." Hopefully you don't have to go full SJW and play that card, the mockery of the nonsense is far more fun.

      [–]ckp2906 2 points3 points  (6 children)

Thanks man, great answer. It's supposed to let us get out with emotions and shit, so it won't bias our work.

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

What kind of course are you taking?

      [–]ckp2906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Anthropology :)

      [–]bustanutmeow 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How did that talk go? Im interested in the results?

      [–]ckp2906 0 points1 point  (2 children)

We have them near everyday now. I just say stuff like " I'm great, been really busy" and just smile to them. Been having a plate in the group for some time, so when i say im busy or similar i usually look at her and blink, to instill som dread.

People have been quite curious about what I do with my team etc after cutting the emotional bullshit from the talks.

      [–]bustanutmeow 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What do they say in response. Surely the push for more detail?

      [–]ckp2906 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just don't give them any. As far as i know, it should keep the female hamster going, right?

I know them fairly well, and they've noticed some changes the last couple of months, where i have started implementing TRP into my life. No real negative feedback, besides lots a random guys calling me offensive and selfish etc, betas. I've been called a jerk and arrogant lately from girls, even though lots was laughing and wasn't complaining in the bed later on.

      [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (5 children)

How do you adapt your approach to inexperinced girls? I'm 18 and some of the girls I'd like to fuck are often reluctant to accept sexual esclation in areas such as nightclubs etc, I find it easy to pick up and lay more 'outgoing' girls but I'm having a hard time implementing TRP tactics on girls who are virgins/ have low partner counts and are what many would consider to be 'innocent'.

      Thanks

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 24 points25 points  (2 children)

How do you adapt your approach to inexperinced girls?

You need to show more comfort, you need to speak a lot more bullshit you don't believe to get in their pants "I believe there's a real connection between us" and "I can tell by the hue of your eyes you've seen a lot." They need all this to "go there with you" the thing is, you risk being a beta faggot who becomes an emotional tampon condemned to the friend zone, so you need to mix it up with some asshole behaviour/unavailability. It's a long game with those girls, and to be honest, they're not really worth the hassle. They will try and tell you everything about their family, their history, their feelings, all of it. And you won't get laid - FOR AGES. Sluts are better.

You're 18, you're not looking for marriage material. These kinda girls are generally attracted to and will drop panties quick for men who can pull off a patriarch/fatherly vibe "I feel so safe with you" or guys who have Chad Thundercock genetics "the amount of gushing I'm doing is pushing me past my own frigidity." Skip the frigid girls and fuck the sluts unless you want to waste countless hours as an emotional yo-yo finely calibrating between making her moist and comforting her anxiety. The problem with these girls is because of their fear, they make you tone down the very factors that make you attractive to them. Be badass, and whatever chick is interested, is interested. Abundance. Don't get caught up on any one chick you think is "so perfect and sweet and yadda yadda" that's a one way trip down blue pill lane.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      Thanks for the great reply.

      [–]Azevse 4 points5 points  (2 children)

What's your opinion on height ? Does it matter as much as some people point it out ?

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Women give many fucks about height. Women are scared meek little things that have a big bark, but when it goes down scream and have not a clue what to do. In that regard, they have evolved to be attracted to men who demonstrate a capacity to protect, eg: height and muscle. If you are a small guy, I think women will make you work harder. Basically, you have to compensate for your height by being better in other ways. It sucks because it's something you can't change and nature has just lent you a bad hand genetically, but that's the way it is.

TLDR: height doesn't define you, but a lack of it will make you less attractive and thus one must compensate in other areas (especially in attitude.) Small ripped well-off guys who don't take any shit get laid. Simple.

      [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Though I kind of understand TRP (or at least think I have), I often have doubts about putting in all the effort working on myself (currently low-smv) just for the result of having sex more. My brain rationalizes that its not worth it to pursue mastery, and I quickly fall off the path because it looks really hard (and it is). Any recommendations on what I should do when these mental states keep coming up in my mind? Thanks for reading.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Though I kind of understand TRP (or at least think I have), I often have doubts about putting in all the effort working on myself (currently low-smv) just for the result of having sex more.

Sex is a bonus and a benefit, not the end game. The end game is being a man you can look at in the mirror and say to yourself "this guy is badass." It's about cultivating your masculinity and becoming everything you were told is patriarchal and evil. It's about being a man in a culture where being a man is frowned upon, and the social infrastructure to become such a thing is limited (a father who is present and not henpecked to death, male exclusive spaces etc.)

Any recommendations on what I should do when these mental states keep coming up in my mind?

Have a bit more self-respect, take the pussy off the pedestal, and realise that as much of a horny bastard that you are, that you're doing this for you and only you and that if you don't nobody else will. That if you don't do this, if you choose to be lazy, play another video game, watch another porno and just hide from life that the only person you're doing a disservice is you. Lift or do sport, you need to be physical, you're a man - your testosterone demands it. No exceptions.

Every time you shy away from doing what needs to be done to be a man, or shy away from building yourself up, you deprive yourself of something nobody else can give you. Confidence, consistency,, courage, self-worth, fortitude, gumption, self-discipline.

Men don't become great sitting there in their underwear, fapping and eating junk food. That's how you become lethargic and boring. Time to leave childhood behind, now you're becoming a man - something better - and you're not doing it to please your mother or "man up" for the whores out there who want somebody to pay for Chad's baby, you're doing it because you want better for yourself in this life and don't want to end up a complete fucking loser at 35, 45 or 55 with no friends, a bad job and a beer gut.

You need a mindset shift, work on yourself and look for like-minded men, men who want to kick ass at life. They are few and far because most men have been trained to be weak and idle, but they exist, and when you find them you'll have a blast. The thing is, weak men have weak friends, these guys won't want to know you if you're a fucking bum, so there's another reason to get on top of your shit. All women are temporary but a good buddy will be there until death calls for one of you. A true alpha buddy is the light in this world when everything else is fucking bullshit. Good luck hunting.

Stand-up comedy, clowning/bantering with your bros, bust out a few push-ups for a buzz. Don't forget to treat yourself. All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. Also: if a chick is more hassle than she's worth, next that bitch.

Gaming alone or among friends? As in going solo on the clubs or gaming with friends around like a house party setting? Which do you find more success in or feel more comfortable in and why?

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on your friends. If they are slayers they will help, if not, they will drag you back, go alone. If your friends aren't slayers you will be tempted to hang around with them in the club rather than approach, groups of betas in clubs are obvious, they strike out over and over, get depressed/angry over their failures, get shit faced and go home with their dick in hand.

House party is better, you get a chance to talk to people, there's just higher risk whoever you hook up with knows someone you know and that this could cause social drama, good to be invited to a house party as a +1 by a friend who's been invited by people you don't know. That way, whoever you fuck or make out with's boyfriend or brothers or whatever can't find you unless you friend rats you (which means your friend is not a bro and you need to ditch them.) House parties are more social and your competition won't be so intense as the club as you won't be up against a bunch of guys who queued and paid to be there wearing their best clothes.

Some TRP things, like dread, seem passive aggressive. I think that's fine. I have no problem with passive aggression if it works to help me get what I want. Thoughts?

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Dread is artificial manipulation of supply to drive up demand and thus in turn, desire. Is it passive-aggressive? Yes, you could say so, but it's effective. And as long as it's effective, who gives a fuck? As long as you don't over-think "this is passive-aggressive, and therefore, I'm less of a man" then you won't be less of a man. Just because you're a man, you're not above using manipulative social tactics. A smart man always has his woman feeling a little fear, lest she get too lax. If you have to be on your A game, so does she. Don't let her forget that. Dread, dread, dread.

      [–]alpha_n3rd[🍰] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks /u/IllimitableMan! That's pretty much what I was thinking.

      [–]M3TAMAN 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I have no problem with passive aggression if it works to help me get what I want

Neither do most women. A lot of TRP is about explaining aspects of power that women internalize naturally and using it to your benefit.

      [–]alpha_n3rd[🍰] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah but a lot of people on here shit all over passive aggression so I'm trying to understand the difference between "good" PA like dread and "bad" PA, or to have someone explain once and for all how dread is not PA.

      [–]M3TAMAN 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The way I understand dread is when your SO knows you are a catch and that you have options. You don't even necessarily have to passive aggressively remind her if your SMV is high enough and your lifestyle allows for you to have additional prospects.

So if your SO denies sex and you respond by pulling out your phone and blatantly texting some other girl, hoping she will notice and get jealous, that's not dread, it's desperate PA.

I'd argue TRP would advocate punishing bad behavior and rewarding good behavior in most cases. So withdrawing attention from her gradually as your SO continues to deny sex (while working on yourself) instills dread because 1. you're improving yourself 2. you're investing less in her.

      [–]alpha_n3rd[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your SMV is high enough and your lifestyle allows for you to have additional prospects

Must an act be intentional to be passive aggression?

So if your SO denies sex and you respond by pulling out your phone and blatantly texting some other girl, hoping she will notice and get jealous, that's not dread, it's desperate PA.

Advice which I've seen given out here and upvoted on multiple occasions.

You know, now that I am rereading https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive-aggressive_behavior I'm becoming less convinced that any of this really qualifies as passive aggression.

Slighlty off topic: What are your thoughts on the US military? Would you recommend it for an early 20s male with no direction or goals that could realistically translate into a career? Unfortunately playing music and video games doesn't really pay the bills, and school hasn't been going so well.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 13 points14 points  (1 child)

It will get you jacked, it will pay your bills, it will teach you discipline, you will have little to no overhead (expenses) and you will have a couple of years to save some serious cash. Afterwards (remember I'm not American) I think you have something called the GI bill which means you can go to university for free. So you will have a fuck ton of bank, and you can do a degree with virtually no debt whilst all your peers are balls deep in debt.

I'd do that if I was a young 20 something with no other prospects or qualifications. All you need is your health to get in (so hopefully you've taken care of yourself, or Chad lent you some of his genetics.) I hear the Marines is the least feminised corps. If you want to push yourself the most, that's what you're aiming for. No half measures in this shit.

      Other randomness:

      • Stay away from military women, too much nonsense, sexual harassment bullshit and bla bla. Maybe you won't get accused, maybe you will. Don't play Russian roulette with your career, stay the fuck away.

      • Don't tell women you're military in case they try to use for your benefits (health insurance and all the other crap that comes with it.)

      • Remember if you're in a combat role there's a chance you may die, change you may see shit that will give you PTSD. Sum up the potential risks with the potential benefits. I hear the navy is the best for non-combat roles, but then if you're in a sub you may not see civilization for months at a time. No matter what you do, if you're in combat, you could die, so it's all hazard pay.

I have no military background, these are my opinions (you asked) so if anyone knows better, take this all with a grain of salt.

      [–]alpha_n3rd[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Navy has a lot of desk jobs, true, but they call another service the "chair force" for a good reason

      [–]bertmaklinFBI 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Why not join ROTC at your school? Gives you some structure and if you like it, graduate and go to OCS. Make a career out of it.

      [–]M3TAMAN 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I inquired a year or so ago, but because I was already a third year at that point, they didn't want to accept me (I go to a huge school so I guess there's too much competition).

      [–]bertmaklinFBI 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Well then I would say graduate college (seriously get your degree) and apply to OCS in whatever branch you find interesting.

And get an internship somewhere. What do you like to do? What interests you?

      [–]M3TAMAN 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm currently in business, but I have a lot of philosophy credits (was pre-law) and could probably graduate w philosophy much sooner than business. Would you recommend getting the quickest degree in this case? I'm concerned that I may be less competitive with philosophy as opposed to business, but studying business has been going very poorly (my drive isn't there, I skip class, etc) whereas philosophy was more interesting and I easily averaged a 3.8 GPA

Also in terms of internships I have a fair amount of experience and should be getting a supervisor position at a call center soon that I work at, which should help.

      [–]bertmaklinFBI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are a perfect example of the adage "Major in what will get you a job and minor in what you love". Can you do both? I would stay in business but i am partial since work in finance (majored in bullshit) so I was lucky enoughto catch a break. If I could go back I would have majored in business.

Also in terms of internships I have a fair amount of experience and should be getting a supervisor position at a call center soon that I work at, which should help.

Get an internship that relates specifically to your business degree. A call center is just wasting your time. If you get an internship related to your studies it might light a fire under your ass. You might start in one section of a company (e.g. equities) and end up falling in love with another section. Then you are on your way.

Direction is the key. An internship in business will make your studies relevant and tangible.

      [–]Squeezymypenisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd. Normally you go to a camp and then you start as a third year.

      [–]Squeezymypenisy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Last i checked only naval rotc who do marines have to do ocs. Everyone else goes straight in after rotc. But its good idea, officer can look good on the resume.

      [–]bertmaklinFBI 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I am saying that if he is considering joining the military might as well get a taste of it doing ROTC at school. Then when he graduates college (regardless of ROTC) he can apply to OCS in what ever branch he wants.

      [–]Squeezymypenisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Makes sense.

      [–]shoestringgod 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I try to be an aloof asshole and play the push/pull game, but I have noticed a theme with girls calling me "sassy." Why do you think this is and how would I change how I present myself?

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That means you're doing the right thing, it's like being called an asshole or a jerk, it's a compliment. The fact that it's getting to you means you have inner game issues. Take it in your stride and keep doing what you're doing, but work on your self-worth so shit like this doesn't make you question yourself.

How do you do stoic meditation?

Do you do other kinds of meditation?

      [–]Modredpillschool 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ok so I liek this girl but she doesn't like me back so I want to buy her a car and then maybe she'll go out with me?

(just kidding, thanks for helping out)

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should buy her a jet, that way she'll know you're a high flyer. Haha. Much obliged.

Depends. Are you going into monk mode to avoid socialising, or are you going into monk mode because you genuinely believe you're a sack of shit and need to find some self-esteem based on personal achievement for people to like you? The prior means you have a fear that needs confronting, the latter means you're broken and need to fix yourself.

Also ask yourself this: if you monk mode all of college and "get ripped, smarter, and save money" are you going to be one of these guys who starts whining he doesn't have access to half the women he did when he was in college once college is over?

Be honest with yourself. That can be hard. Ask yourself: "Will I ever feel like I missed out if I don't fuck a few college chicks?" if the answer is yes, don't monk mode for 2 years. Perhaps intermittently. Do 3 months on, 3 months off. See how it goes and how different people are to you each time you come out and you're a little more ripped/confident/happier etc. You don't have to do 3 months off, 3 months on. Perhaps 3 months on and 1 month out to test the waters is best for you. You know you and your situation better than me, so this is your choice. Don't be a slob when you come out, keep your good habits you've learnt up, you'll just be doing a lot less reading in your evenings to go out/socialise/apply what you've learned.

School comes first and foremost. It's always your top priority. That doesn't mean you need to write girls off. Approaching is a low-investment activity and even bookworm brainiacs need to unwind a little on the weekend. It's easy to burn yourself out in an engineering program. And lifting will probably help your school performance anyway via improved mental and physical health, discipline, and reduced stress.

I, in a similar program, wrote girls off in college (partly b/c my school was a major sausage party) and fucked up the few opportunities I got by being a beta bitch. Major regrets. If I could go back I'd be hanging out in the girls dorm every Friday night.

        [–]M3TAMAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Take it from someone who has wasted his junior and senior year skipping class, smoking weed/other stupid drugs, chasing girls. I'm now very far behind for getting any degree with a lot of debt and nothing to show for it. Right now is the most important time for you to crack down and kick ass. If you work hard now and excel in your classes, then no matter what happens for the rest of your life you will always have your degree to fall back on. Let the women come and go as they please for now, you can always chase harder for the rest of your life.

I know you are an "expert" or atleast very knowledgeable about the dark triad traits. I was wondering if you knew anything about autism spectrum disorders or specifically aspergers syndrome? Specifically what do you think about the "its a disease that you should treat" and the "its a normal occuring part of humanity that should be embraced"
