I see this behaviour most apparent in middle age woman (approx 40 years old), who grew up through the stages of feminism. Specifically, middle aged woman who have been divorced (or never married).

They can remember their fathers being very masculine figures who would do all this dirty and dangerous work, but seem to forget their feminine mothers role of keeping the house in order and taking care of things. They've replaced it with imagery that their mother was repressed.

They also remember being courted and having men be chivalrous in their youth, and how that has decayed over time. They associate it with men just becoming pigs, rather than them becoming unattractive because they have absorbed more and more poisonous feminist attitudes as they have gotten older (aging appearance also would play apart, but not to the same degree I suspect).

Now they'll moan and bitch when they have to do some manual or technical labour... 'this is mans work; why isn't there a man to do this'? There isn't a man to do it because you have spent your whole life doing everything you can to push them out of your life.

I guess the message is this: You wanted to be 'equal', then you can get dirty, and take the dangerous risks that are required. In your quest for equality, you lost your privilege. Since you want to be equal, you can't have that privilege back unless you want to play by our rules.

So, the father acted, a male bystander acted, and the mother stood there screaming hysterically. Yes, they're going to be just brilliant in combat, aren't they

Brilliant!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
