Jesus christ that first sentence says more about the sexual climate than entire books have achieved.

And as a consequence, US birth rate drops to a new record low

FTA:

Falling birth rates can be considered a challenge to future economic growth and the labor pool.

It takes 2.1 children per woman for a given generation to replace itself, and U.S. births have been below replacement level since 2007.

Like I told some of the childless feminists that don't want kids before, I hope they don't intend on drawing on medicare at age 65+. And people said the baby boomer generation was the most selfish generation. I'd say the current feminists of breeding age give them a run for their money.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Of course the replacement generation to the Baby Boomers didn't come up with the crack-pipe idea of social security in the first place. I'm not sure how it could be considered greedy when most of us realize we're not going to see a dime anyway.

[–]Abiogeneralization 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

We had this idea when we started with Social Security that made the whole thing work. The idea was that as technology advanced we would be able to decouple economic growth from resource consumption. If this idea were true, we could support an economy that depends on a continuously growing population.

The idea didn't work. You can't decouple economic growth from resource consumption. Sure, technology can slow down the inevitable, but it's physically impossible to support the infinitely growing population our current economic model requires. What we need to do is completely rethink out model so that it doesn't depend on infinite population growth. Sure, we could get the birth-rate back up, but that means we'll be heading towards an even worse disaster in the future.

Marriage is a horrible idea for men today and is a horrible idea for the men of tomorrow. Dalrock, the tradcon, has a problem with diminishing female "wealthcare" otherwise misnamed "marriage" in the insane west.

[–]SmilesLookGreatOnYou 13 points14 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Marriage just doesn't make sense in today's lifestyle.

If i cheat, i'm a scumbag. If she cheats, i wasn't tending to her needs.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 23 points24 points  (28 children) | Copy Link

Agreed that marriage is a bad idea. But it hasn't always been, and the purpose it served hasn't disappeared as a need for many men. Realistically, we will need to address this with something more than just a strike.

[–]TRP Vanguardss_camaro 12 points13 points  (23 children) | Copy Link

more than just a strike

Spinning plates, surrogacy and bullet-proof legal contracts in offshore countries.. just to name a few.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 23 points24 points  (22 children) | Copy Link

Spinning plates and surrogacy don't really solve the family issue. I would want my kids to have a mother.

Offshore countries is a stopgap.

Until the MRM/ legal situation is radically changed, it is what it is.

Dalrock thinks tradconism is enough of a protection. He is deluded.

I agree. I'm not arguing to have any solutions. But there is a problem that will need to be solved before a change will take place. The strike you and I are on isn't big enough to do it alone.

[–]MightySurly 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

We may be few, but we can sleep at night knowing we are helping path the way.

[–]Redpillc0re 2 points3 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Indeed, we need to perfect this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_uterus

[–]otiswild 3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The Tleilaxu had the right idea.

[–]Tecumseh90 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Or not.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Back when both parties suffered when a marriage failed, it was perfect.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Marriage is a horrible idea for men today and is a horrible idea for the men of tomorrow.

But for the men of yesterday and the 10,000 years before that, marriage was far better and was a bedrock of civilization as we know it. You can't blame Dalrock for advocating taking the institution back to its Marriage 1.0 roots.

[–]TRP Vanguardss_camaro 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

To paraphrase an Englishman: "More men have been wrecked by 'ladies' and marriage than booze and harlots." Marriage was never the bedrock of civilization; Law & Breeding are better candidates.

[–]Tiny_Kitt3n 34 points35 points  (9 children) | Copy Link

I think it's more that women are delaying marriage because they're waiting for The One, and they buy into the "don't settle for less than perfection" thing. By the time fertility starts running out, keeping on waiting doesn't seem as appealing. I think the focus is more on waiting for mister right than avoiding waste of youth/fertility.

[–]theDarkAngle 6 points7 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

I kind of agree, but somewhere deep down these women have to know that that perfect guy doesn't exist, right? They can't be that deluded.

I think part of it is the whole notion that women are encouraged to "test drive" a bunch of dudes before they pick one. I get it, but I think it's based on flawed understanding.

We as a species tend to overstate the differences among us. There isn't that huge a difference between one mate or the next, other than superficial things.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Women who decide to forgo marriage and kids (Spinsters) have been telling women still of marriageable age that the perfect man will come along.

[–]YoHomeToBellair 2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

They can't be that deluded.

It’s a bold strategy. Let’s see if it pays off for him.

[–]budguy68 4 points5 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

The other thing is that the older women get the pickier and bitcher they become. I actually prefer younger ones

[–][deleted]  (2 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]Endorsed Contributornyrp 6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah, but you would be thinking women use reason.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm 30 now and will not date a 28 year old or older. My demographics this year were in the excellent 18-24 range.

[–]positiveeagle 12 points13 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

If younger women rush to fill the gap, then those 30 and 40 something year olds will be stuck reading 50 shades of grey spin offs, and working off lifetime gym memberships.

[–]themoor 21 points21 points [recovered] | Copy Link

A man would have to be a either foolish or ignorant to get married today.

If he's not ignorant on the laws and odds lined up against him, he's a fool.

If he's foolish enough not to know this stuff, he's ignorant.

[–]Cypher211 11 points12 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

In the age of information, ignorance is a choice.

[–]rztzz 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

Not that easy. There's a strong drive in a lot of men to have kids. It's risky but for some worth the risk.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I wish there was a strong drive in a lot of men to tell other men that you don't need to bet half of your universe to have a few children.

[–]rztzz 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

i mean at the end of the day, having kids is what it's all about. everything.

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Lol I love being married. With the right woman and the same goals for marriage nothing is better!

[–]YoHomeToBellair 3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s a bold strategy. Let’s see if it pays off for him.

[–]watersign 10 points11 points  (5 children) | Copy Link

what all these studies fail to mention is that THE US ECONOMY IS IN THE SHITTER AND WILL BE FOR A LONG, LONG TIME!! THAT IS WHY PEOPLE AREN'T GETTING MARRIED!!

[–]fiat_lux_ 5 points6 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

Can't be the only reason. Technically, getting married (or at least cohabitating) is economical.

Being Single is a Luxury ~Caplan

If you're point to economics as the only reason, your "economics" better include some pretty broad socio-economics to explain the situation. Probably more.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Technically, getting married (or at least cohabitating) is economical.

True, but you have to think of this in terms of hypergamy rather than economics. An average man would think, hey, we're both better off if we cohabitate/marry. We split the rent, split the bills, and save tons of money.

An average woman doesn't even hear the economics...all she can see is the man's paychecks or lack thereof, which leave her drier than the Mojave desert.

[–]watersign -1 points0 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

i didnt say it was the only reason, but its a big reason why people are putting off doing "grown up" things

[–]fiat_lux_ -1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with you on that. That's a popular reason.

My point was that from a purely economical/technical mindset, one would think that the worse the recession got, the more attractive it'd be to marry/cohabitate (tax, shared costs, etc), especially for the lower and middle classes that suffer more from it. Other factors may be working overtime to counter that.

Besides, marriage rates had been declining forever, even during economic booms.

[–]caius_iulius_caesar 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Or is the economy so bad because of the disaster that is Marriage 2.0 and accompanying government policies?

[–]Graizur 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Video Games and the movie "her" show that men will be perfectly happy creating their own companionship one way or the other.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I have to disagree. This plays out like the typical prisoner's dilemma as set up. We all know who wins in PD. If people are voluntarily delaying marriage then those people aren't rational (cue the jokes) or the game as set up is wrong and people feel they gain more by delaying than by cooperating.

[–]kolbsterjr -5 points-4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Same can be said for men as well.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
