Just Starting (self.ThankTRP)

submitted by Achaidas

"If you don't get out of this place with a wife then there's something wrong with you - there's so many cute girls!"

Those were the words of my mother when my parents dropped me off at my University, a journey that would take me 6 years to traverse. It was somewhere in between my Junior year and my First Victory Lap that I came upon TRP - at the time I was a pious Evangelical young man that detested the words that were on my screen.

I closed the browser and turned away from my computer, Beta move that one... The majority of my college experience was spent flitting from one woman girl to another in the most Beta (and Christian) of ways. Flowers here, a coffee there, a bag of gluten-free cookies from a ubiquitous brand that you can only find on the shelves Marshalls. Always pandering to the idea of the ONE that was out there - Clearly I wasn't ready.

A few years later, working a side job while starting my own venture and I found TRP again. Naive ideals have been stripped away not by venom-dripping girls, but simply by time. The desire to please everyone cast aside by pursuing my own venture instead of filing in line behind everyone else on the way to work. Something curious happened over the years and I'm still not sure what - I just know that if nothing changes, nothing changes.

This journey into TRP is just one facet of learning to love self-development and growth. I'm glad I'm here.

"Change is inevitable, growth is optional"

Lol your mom is retarded.

A wife will ruin everything you love. Just like she did to your poor dad.

Disregard her.

Welcome to the club though bro.

I felt like crying after reading that. I was raised catholic and became an athiest around 13. Whether or not you believe in god but I think faith is for the weak and pathetic. Your failures and accomplishments are your own, I don't believe that the ideal of heaven should comfort anyone for living a failure of a life and thinking they'll find satisfaction once they die.

Best of luck on your journey, hopefully you get out of it what you want.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
