I never quite realized how vehemently some women were about their dislike of men. The lady said that she was not sure how she'd feel about having a son because of all the blah blah blah advantages or whatever men have. I just can't wrap my head around disliking a gender that much.

I feel like sure, men do have some advantages but I feel that women have advantages as well and those advantages dove tail together and that's what makes the genders great.

I consider myself, as I'm sure many of you do as well, a strong woman. I feel that being a strong woman is a great thing to have along with a strong man at your side or in the lead. Heck, in our house we take turns leading because we have different strengths.

How have we veered so far of course?

Ugh. I saw a Facebook post where a mom has boy/girl twins. She was breastfeeding the girl but refused to breastfeed the boy because she didn't want to "give him too much advantage."

Like, what?

I saw that going around and was hoping it was satire.

Ugh, me too. Otherwise, that's just sad.

Wait, what? Please tell me that's a joke. -_-

Feminism is poison.

As the incredibly proud mother of two boys, I hope that ridiculous woman never has any children much less a boy. I would hate for her to raise a son ingrained with self hatred. I LOVE being the mother of these little rascals. I hope they get all the benefits, of everything, ever.

Because we have women who still try to say 1st and 2nd feminism was okay but it's THIS feminism that's toxic. When the truth is it was super toxic right from day one.

That's an interesting point. Help me understand more. I feel that there are some things from the 1st and 2nd wave that weren't bad at all. I can see how those got bastardized into what we are seeing now and I feel like saying that the first and second wave are just as bad is tossing the baby out with the bath water.

I am in way wanting to be argumentative, but I think that there has been good to come out of it as well - just trying to find the balance of the good and the bat crap crazy.

For instance the right of vote, it wasnt about gender, it was about military service, yet women getting it was kinda unfair since men who didn't do the service couldn't vote yet women could.

I also liked the idea that each family got a vote. The head of the household (the husband/father) was to vote on behalf of his family.

Yes! I liked this idea, but then maybe it should be more votes based on the people in a household too? So like if a husband has a wife and 2 children he gets 4 votes but a single man or woman living alone has 1 vote?

It was also to flood more whites into the booths to out do the growing number black and hispanic voters.

Well the 1st wave was about voting and laws right? Which in theory sounds great, but actually when you look at the people involved the ideology gets a bit extreme. A lot of the suffragettes were very radical (and went on to other radical politics afterwards).

Just because they campaigned for the right to vote and legal equality, assuming that is basically an ok thing, doesn't mean that their movement was a good thing. Like communists could be described as campaigning for more equality for the poor which sounds great in theory, but the ideology is dangerous.

Women almost always vote for toward nanny states, too. Which is why many feel women should not vote.

It's a similar argument to the property requirements that voting had, I suppose. I don't really have a strong feeling on it, I've just this week copied husband's vote in our national election, but otoh our conservative tradition is quite nanny state by American standards :P

Uhh, if you're going to have a kid, wouldn't you WANT them to have every advantage they can? That's like saying "I hope my kid comes out disabled, wouldn't want them to have too much privilege!"

Seriously, I'm not sure why this is a problem to some people. I want my future children to have as many advantages as possible. One person's success is not dependent on another's failure. Prosperity is not a zero-sum game.

I am in Asia and contrary to what people believe, even in here it's getting out of control. One person I know once told a story how she did not enroll her kid in one school because during the open house she heard one of the teacher said (to a boy who pushed a girl) "Don't do that. Boys should not push or hit girls" and she went "Why did the teacher limits her teaching method to one gender only? Everybody should not push/hit everybody!"

It's like people are creating problem that should not even be a problem

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
