Do you still try to fix yourself up? Just wear nice lounge wear? I have been wonderfully taken care of today, which is such a blessing. Just don't want to gross him out lol!

When i'm truly sick, I don't try to look cute. i don't try to do anything. I rest. And I make sure I recover. I rather have 1-2 days of downtime and get back to my full self immediately, than make a show of not being vulnerable and delay my recovery by a few days.

Yup. When I'm not feeling well priority number 1 is heal/rest/feel better. If I can I do some light cleaning with disinfecting wipes. That way I can feel better that I didn't get R sick.

I might bath, at least shower... whatever it takes to get healthy, clean, back to normal. But I don't push it if I'm legit sick. He understands. People get sick.

Definitely this. There's no point in trying to fight it for me, that just means I'll be miserable longer. I had a bad, bad flu in February and I slept for almost 72 hours with a few 1-3 hour awake periods. The best part is the shower when the fever breaks, after that you start to feel human again.

i can only imagine how much $$ you've spent on makeup in your lifetime! i don't want to know! XD

i'm curious then. is this an expectation of your relationship now, wearing a full face of makeup, or is this something you do as selfcare?

I just wear cute lounge pants and one of his old shirts. No makeup because when I get sick I get super sick and there is no hiding it! I will usually shower at least twice a day when I'm sick to help clear things up and not feel gross.

My boyfriend doesn't really care that I'm sick but make sure you take care of any gross tissues and, if you're throwing up, turn on the water so he doesn't have to hear it. (That is, if you can.) Ponytails are also good for this situation. Just make sure to clean up after yourself and focus on recovering.

I clean the whole house first (even though it's never more than barely dirty lol) because I'm Monica Gellar and I can't relax until my environment is cleaner than an operating room. It sucks but I always get that done first.

As soon as the house is spotless I take a shower to get the sick and cleaning products off me and then I plop down on the couch and watch TV, drink tons of water, and doze in and out until I feel better.

I'll wear cute sweats because my cute sweats aren't any less comfortable than ugly ones, but I don't do anything that isn't 100% comfy and nice. I agree with Sunhappy up top about just getting well as quick as possible.

I have a chronic condition that makes me extremely ill when I have a flare up. I usually am quite reclusive during this time, but always make sure to wash my face, shower, and brush my hair. Not only does this help me mentally by not feeling like a complete slob, but also gets me out of bed to get some circulation going. Things like French braids and simple pulled back hair styles are your friends, especially if you have the stomach flu. If you know you might be bowing down to the porcelain goddess, avoid heavy eye makeup and use cold wash clothes to calm reddening skin. Also, a supply of handkerchiefs in my opinion, is a lot better than tissues (be sure to change them out and throw them in the wash/I usually switch every 2-4 hours) and doesn't cause Rudolph nose. If you are doing the tissue route, moisturize the heck out of that area!

I used to be really self conscious about when I first started dating my SO, but after having a major event happen in a public space (my first time seeing a college football game of all times) and ended up in the hospital for a few days, he told me never to hide it when he's around so he can help me if need be. If he want to help you out, let him. He's probably worried and wants to make you get well soon!

Well it depends on who is going to see me lol. If I'm housebound and no one is around then it's just whatever is comfy and snuggly and smells like my boyfriend and hair in a messy bun. If my boyfriend is coming over to take care of me, then I'll do minimal makeup like concealer and blush so I don't look like death, and a comfy jersey dress from Old Navy. Typically I shower even when sick because it makes me feel better. I'll usually also have some aromatherapy oils going on in my diffuser which helps it smell nice.

Well there are two types of sick for me. One where I am exhibiting the symptoms (runny nose sneezy etc) but I feel fine. On those days I pop a pill and act like nothin. Then there are the days where my hair hurts. Like I can't even get out of bed and I can't even turn the light on. Those days I just sleep, drink water, eat, poop, and shower. That is it. I always wear nice sleepwear so I've got that going for me, and my hair is always done too. The makeup gets left behind cause I"d probably wipe it off with tissue and watery eyes.

I was recently sick at home for a week; on days 1&2 the fiance did everything around the house (cooking, cleaning) and at first i felt so guilty that after working an 11 hour day he had to take care of me! But thank God he did, it helped me get better faster. For the rest of the week I just slept and maintained the house, cooked breakfast and dinner, the normal. Didn't do any make up but at least did my hair and dressed myself in comfy clothes.... Victoria's secret sweats are a godsend, lol.

Thankfully, I very very rarely get truly sick. Must be that hardy Irish immune system or something, because it generally happens about once every two years or so, and it's gone within 24-36 hours.. But when it hits, it hits HARD. So I don't even bother with looking cute. I usually can barely stand or even lift my head when I get sick, much less try to make myself presentable. My husband is a very good man, and truly a wonderful husband, because he's on top about taking care of our little one, and gives me space to rest and recover. He's very sweet about giving me a clean, soft t-shirt of his to wear.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
