I found this about some celebrity women who really embrace the role as a wife in a relationship. Here are some notable quotes that I really liked:

  • Miranda Kerr - If you’re really an alpha female, you don’t allow [your partner] to have the space to feel like the man in the relationship.

  • Candace Cameron Bure - It is very difficult to have two heads of authority. It doesn’t work in military, it doesn’t work — I mean, you have one president, you know what I’m saying?

  • Gabrielle Reece - I think the idea of living with a partner is ‘How can I make their life better?’ So if I’m the woman and he’s the man, then yes, that’s the dynamic.

  • Kirsten Dunst - You need a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman. That’s why relationships work…

edit: repost cause love it!

“I’m very proud of being a woman, and as a woman, I don’t even like the word feminism because when I hear that word, I associate it with women trying to pretend to be men and I’m not interested in trying to pretend to be a man.

I don’t want to embrace manhood, I want to embrace my womanhood.”

To see this quote from someone in the spotlight is pretty amazing. I have no idea who Evangeline Lilly is, but good for her.

She was on Lost. Not sure if you've watched it. Oh she was also in The Hobbit movies as an elf. I didn't like her up until I read her quote. She was quite annoying in Lost lol

Ironically, her role in The Hobbit was modernly created to satisfy the feminist need for a "badass chick" in movies.

Yeah. I read something about them putting in a stupid ass love story in there. Why? Just... why??

I haven't watched either. I loved the book the Hobbit. I'm not interested in watching how Hollywood played games with it.

I never got into Lost. Heard it was good, but it just doesn't ping my radar.

Lost was good but then took a turn into crazy-ville so for me it wasnt worth it.

I wasn't interested in watching the Hobbit either but it came out just as I was wondering whatever happened to Evangeline Lily cause she was doing some hair commercials or something like that.

The Hollywood rendition of The Hobbit is utter garbage, you're not missing anything but a rage headache :)

I was soooo sad when Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom got divorced. She had some great insights. I love how she wouldn't talk negatively about him.

I think that is a big thing for me. Do people talk shit about their ex. Put them down or blame shift. It's a good indication of lack of self awareness.

I personally don't believe "celebrity" and "traditional" can go in the same sentence for women. They are careerist women first and foremost, unless they forgo stardom and give up their careers after having started a family. Sure they can talk the talk, but there are no guarantees they're walking the walk. As far as we know, that's just the image they present to the public. That's not to say they can't be deferential, but it's certainly not done in a traditional way.

I guess really I don't care what exactly these women are actually doing in their homes but that they are saying these things to the public is what I really appreciate.

I actually kinda believe Candance Cameron-Bure. She doesn't seem to be working that much, at least not as far as I can tell and when you hear her talk on the view being a traditional wife really aligns with her views on a lot of things. I think most women here on the sub work as well and it doesn't mean they can't be a good wife at the same time.

Working ≠ careerist

Ok, fair enough. Can we still put Candance Cameron-Bure in the working but not careerist category?

My comment was written in a more general sense and wasn't meant to single out these women in particular. I don't even know who that lady is! I mean, sure, you can categorize her as you please. I really don't think it would matter.

yeah. she became known for xmas movies because she wanted to free up her calendar to raise her kids. Fuller House is the most demanding schedule she's had in ages.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
