This idea slightly harms the looks reputation of the blackpill then, doesn't it?

The blackpill entails 80/20, but this piece mentions competition as a primary factor in mating (intrasexual selection) rather than intersexual, which would be pretty much entirely looks-based as the women would be picking the men for their appearance rather than the men fighting their way to have some kind of affinity to supposed women without looks being factored as much, no?

So does this alter the goalposts for men then? Pretty yourselves up or bulk up and fuck up/dominate other men? Or do both? Basically guys are probably wondering how to strategize/make use of this information obviously. LOL

I personally have approached and have success with women, but I am decent looking physically and tall so I'm probably a horrible example to argue with guys who actually do struggle (incels).

I think it's still in line with the following hypothesis: Feminism largely eliminated male-male competition and economic dependence, so it largely eliminated domination and resource provision as sexual selection criteria when females evaluate males. The remaining criterion is looks as women are interested in personality just as little as men. The blackpill hypothesis as stated by /u/SubsaharanAmerican in the sidebar seems to be wrong in as far as the locus of control over being exposed to lookism is not entirely external.

But male-male competition/dominance does not need to be violence-based as the challenge hypothesis states. And it wasn't in the West for a long time.

So does this alter the goalposts for men then?

I think so. This is, of course, limited by what level of dominating behavior the social norms and laws in your environment admit, lol.

Challenge hypothesis

The challenge hypothesis outlines the dynamic relationship between testosterone and aggression in mating contexts. It proposes that testosterone promotes aggression when it would be beneficial for reproduction, such as mate guarding, or strategies designed to prevent the encroachment of intrasexual rivals. The challenge hypothesis predicts that seasonal patterns in testosterone levels are a function of mating system (monogamy versus polygyny), paternal care, and male-male aggression in seasonal breeders.

The pattern between testosterone and aggression was first observed in seasonally breeding birds, where testosterone levels rise modestly with the onset of the breeding season to support basic reproductive functions.

Feminism eliminated economic dependence but that's not male-male competition anyways, is it? I meant like guys trying to gain access to social circles and stuff and break their way to meet women from "outside". But of course that depends on looks, but this piece here doesn't weight on the looks part so it seems to be unpredictable strategy.

Just be good looking still seems to be the only serious strategy that never fails. LOL

Nice comment. But what do you think? Is this applicable to other cultures than America?

What is your strategy?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I just go out to clubs every now and then and women approach sometimes, but I also meet through social circle and friends and parties and stuff.

Of course this works because I am like a 5 or 6 in looks. I also used to do Tinder and meet up. Never really competed much for access to women with other men because that doesn't really make sense to me, which I why I don't get this piece here.

It says competing to get women, but what does that mean in the modern sense? Just mogging other men or something maybe? LOL

Yeah that's what I was thinking, too. Maybe financially wise or with height. Can someone translate this?

If blackpill preached that physical attractiveness is the only major factor in attractiveness it is only half right.

The main factors are physical attractiveness and/or social status. Students can influence the social status though, like a very attractive man tends to have more social influence and status.

This makes so much more sense, when i get cheated on the moment i notice any little bit of disloyalty i tell her to fuck off and abandon her, but if it is a competition then i am just giving up when i really should be intimidating the competition. hmm

Non incel here: a skanky girl I dated for a few months wanted me to fight her ex and I didn't want to and so I broke up with her. She tore up my favorite clothes I had at her house and called me immature.

So that means ugly men can compete

This shows that height > face.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
