Why 6ft?

[–]FedoraTipper1519 points20 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

5'10 guys call themselves 6 ft and foids like round numbers because they're dumb, so they chose 6 ft. In Europe its 180 cm which is actually 5'11.

cause it's a nice round figure. nothing more to it.

Well I mean ask yourself. How many people can actually accurately access a persons height? Do women walk around with a measuring tape?

When they see a hot guy who has nice muscle definition and attractive facial features. Do they whip out the measuring tape and make sure he is exactly 6 feet or taller? Of course not.

They just say that shit. Most people don't even know what 6 feet looks like. I am 5 foot 11 and like 3 quarters. When I go to the DMV they put 6 foot 1 on my drivers license. When I tell people how tall I am they swear up and down they are 6 foot 1 (when I'm clearly taller then them).

It's just a round figure nothing more. Taller people are preferred but it's not something so easily quantified. Other factors probably matter more anyway.

but the 6'5 guy gets the most sex

[–]JuranoCK4 points5 points  (9 children) | Copy Link

an outlier

BMI is actually a far better predictor of sex partner count compared to height

An obese man can have more partners than a lower end normal bmi man?

[–]JuranoCK0 points1 point  (4 children) | Copy Link

point to note that the study found a weak correlation between BMI and age for men (r = .13) so that could play a part. obviously the older you are, the more likely you are to have more sex partners. either way, it's a very weak correlation and not enough to completely explain the trends present in the graph. i don't find it surprising that women would prefer a fat man over a skinny man imo

I think the rising weight of the overall population might play into this. It's more common to be overweight than 'normal' weight nowadays.

Moreover, majority of us are insecure and tend to settle for what we can get. Hence women choosing overweight men; and an overall increase in sexual partners for overweight women (men approaching overweight women more often because they might be 'easier')

[–]JuranoCK0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

yeah some good points. also note it is sexually dimorphic for men to be bigger than women so that could play a part too. having skinny arms/legs is a huge turn off to women

Very true.. just looked at the numbers, how could I have been so clueless about this. im gonna have to reevalute my life lol im 5'8.5 and only 130 :(

It doesn't come from anywhere, it's bullshit nonsense propagated by losers who think women don't date them because they're under 6ft, and not because they're borderline sociopaths who make fashion decisions based on their favorite anime and assume all women are fundamentally all the same.

This requirement is very psychologically driven,

in europe, the requirement is to be 1.80 cm(which is 5'11),

in north america the requirement is 6 feet(which is 1.83 cm),

you will barely even notice any difference between a 5'11 guy and a 6' feet guy,

this is more of a rounded number ideal than anything else.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy Link

3cm difference is a big difference. People do notice it. Personal experience.

You're wrong,

2.4(which is 1 inch) is barely noticeable,it's all about body type when it comes to such close height differences,

if you have a v type body and you're 6'0 you may look shorter then someone who's 5'11 and have more narrow body type, personal experience.

And yes, body type does play a role, but 3cm is definitely noticeable.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
