Title says it all. leave answers with a why please

[–]caneyfan87 points88 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

A purpose. Setting goals of who and what you want to be and why you want to achieve those things. Then set out to make those things a reality. The goal shouldn’t necessarily be stopping those things, instead, it’s making those negative things insignificant in a pursuit to achieve something important to you—as a man. Go focus on bettering yourself in life, and as a result you’ll quit doing unproductive things.

Basically go do something with your life that has meaning to you and you won’t have time, much less, the desire to worry about BS that doesn’t move the needle on your life aspirations.

[–]rijeka10 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

You missed the main thing. Investing in a crypto, surefire way to get rich.

[–]ttann71226 points227 points  (50 children) | Copy Link

Lifting. Reading.

[–]bwoodski68 points69 points  (24 children) | Copy Link

All you really need.

Strong mind and body. Though I still smoke weed when relaxing, it also goes well with cycling. Bikes not roids

[–]throwawaybpdnpd27 points28 points  (20 children) | Copy Link

Replacing weed is my last flaw too

[–]master_mind012 points13 points  (6 children) | Copy Link

Glad I'm not alone lol

[–]Imtoosexyformypants23 points24 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

Vices are fine in moderation and at certain times it won’t screw up an important schedule. Weed keeps me in check, maybe if you have a low drive I could see smoking too much messing with progress but trp casts a wide net. Some guys here start missing the point of life. You’re are allowed to enjoy the benefits of working hard, granted it’s not stoping you from getting what you want out of life.

[–]throwawaybpdnpd12 points13 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

I agree in moderation they are but in my case it’s the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing I do before going to bed...

I gotta work my way down to having it not every day, it hurts my short term memory real bad even though it helps so much with my inflammation

[–]VigilantSmartbomb1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Dude I feel this so much to the last word. I’m trying to work on my diet too to help inflammation and I wonder how much smoking helps ya know 😭

[–]supersonic-turtle0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly, work to live not live to work.

[–]VigilantSmartbomb0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Y’all just named my three in the get go. I’ve stopped playing video games but keep going back cause I’m like idk what else to do. Should probably read 😭 FUCK. Lmao thank you all

[–]a_nus2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I've a hard time with dopaminergics. I can't seem to give up weed and caffeine at the same time. At least these drugs allow me to do other stuff while I'm under the influence, as opposed to watching porn which is an activity in itself.

[–]gordoburrito4154 points5 points  (11 children) | Copy Link

Weed isn’t a flaw tho lol. So many of my plates like to toke up with me when we bang

[–]MisterRoid0 points1 point  (10 children) | Copy Link

True. It adds to the bad boy image, so if you don't have a high-end job where drug tests are common being a pothead will raise your SMV if anything.

[–]SolarTortality12 points13 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

>weed

>bad boy

Lmao cope harder

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

For real these drugged up hippies will make any excuse

[–]gordoburrito4150 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m 25, in my generation smoking weed doesn’t make you a ‘hippie’

[–]MisterRoid0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I have tried marijuana once over 5 years ago. It's kind of funny how you can be a total wimp and still be seen as a bad boy simply because you are smoking weed, but that's how it is.

[–]Justanotherredditt0 points1 point  (5 children) | Copy Link

Are you suggesting that smoking weed makes you look like a “bad boy”? What is this, 1987?

[–]Pascolino 1 points [recovered]  (3 children) | Copy Link

I does if you're twenty. Been there and it was cool until, you know, it was an addiction and girls figured out smoking was more important to me then they were. More important than anything, really.

[–]Justanotherredditt0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

It really doesn’t though. My 63 year old mother smokes, and she’s as straight laced as possible. Everyone smokes nowadays.

[–]Pascolino 1 points [recovered]  (1 child) | Copy Link

Well for me that was 22 years ago. I might be a tad out of touch.

[–]gaki1230 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

You are old fart

[–]MisterRoid0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Just like people associate smoking ciggarettes and drinking beer with toughness. It's retarded, yes, but that's how it is.

[–]AceMav217 points8 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Cycling what hmmmm?

[–]horatiowilliams13 points14 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

That's the next thing I need to replace.

[–]enlexic 1 points [recovered]  (23 children) | Copy Link

Reading is really no different than video games. Video games are another medium for telling a story.

People unfairly shit on video games here just because of the social stigma associated with them. Everything is fine in moderation. Someone who plays video games for 12 hours a day would be just as worse off as someone who reads books for 12 hours a day.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (16 children) | Copy Link

Depends on the type of video game

The social stigma is mainly associated with the short term dopamine bursts it provides and the fact that this can lead to addiction, games such aa fortnite and cod. I agree there definitely are some good story video games like red dead that are different.

However i find it crazy how you can liken books to video games. Video games dont develop your vocabulary and knowledge base anywhere near the way books do

[–]enlexic 1 points [recovered]  (4 children) | Copy Link

Both have their pros and cons. A good book may improve your vocabulary, but a good puzzle game could improve your problem-solving skills like no book ever could.

I'm mostly just trying to defend video games from the people who say to cut them out of your life completely. Everything should be used in moderation.

[–]SolarTortality-4 points-3 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

Everything even heroine

[–]dumstick1 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes its especially important to practise moderation when using heroine. Opiates are notoriously difficult to dose correctly and the margin for error is fine.

[–]SolarTortality0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

I was being facetious

[–]dumstick0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m well aware

[–]1ANGRY_ATHEIST18 points19 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

One could also say it depends on the type of book also...

[–]2319Skew8 points9 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

120 days of Sodom?

[–]triiiiiple1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Mein kampff

[–]JorgitoEstrella4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

50 shadows of grey?

[–]VigilantSmartbomb4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The problem is you guys only read books that have stories what lol so many other kinds of books. Reading books is about amassing knowledge/experience, playing video games is 90% of the time purely hedonistic.

[–]MisterRoid1 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Addiction has nothing to do with it. It's only because it's considered nerdy it's bad for your SMV. Same thing as wearing glasses, but not as bad. Being a drug user will raise the average guy's SMV on the other hand.

[–]WiseGene0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

"Being a drug user will raise the average guy's SMV on the other hand."

really?

[–]MCA_T0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes they can though, everything i learned about history, religions, politics, economics, culture, geography was all learned and inspired from playing total war and paradox strategy games, granted i may of used books to learn that knowledge but without playing the games I would of never gone down that path

[–]MCA_T1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

If your playing retarded games like fortnite then ofcourse you have no potential too learn, its just mind numbing shit, but there is plenty of games out there with intelligent stories, characters and information that open your mind to new ways of thinking just the same as a book or good movie

[–]zylo471 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Another aspect of reading books is that you can take the time needed to ingest the information. Aside from story based / turn based games many video games have the same effect as TV where you’re constantly forced to keep ingesting ever changing stimuli that make your brain race

[–]daymi31 points32 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't know why other people "shit" on video games but I do because the successful ones are designed to be addictive on a primal level. That's not healthy.

But you are right that if you read the newest crime entertainment series you have the exact same problem.

But I at least really mean "reading non-fiction factual books" when I say "reading".

[–]mnsmon5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Depends on the book. I don’t read stories, just informational books on whatever I’m currently interested in, so I’m reading for me really is learning.

[–]Schhwing3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Bro if you read for 12 hours a day you would gain immense wisdom and/or knowledge. Become an expert in a field or a literary expert.

Playing video games for 12 hours would nowhere near benefit you as much as that.

The thing is video games give you a much bigger dopamine hit so are more addictive and enjoyable (arguably).

[–]CookieAdmiral6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with you, but not with the last line. 12 hours a day reading are honestly what good students do and it pays off for them. You can never read too much. Reading is a portal to knowledge.

[–]rp26261 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I like to listen to podcasts while I play sports games. Like you say everything in moderation. It's just a nice way to chill out for a bit.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

This is such a dumb statement, maybe you should read a book.

[–]downvotesanimals1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Put more simply: exercise, education

Few people need more than that...

[–]PM_ME_CHILL_MUSIC91 points92 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Replace porn with real sex or your own imagination.

Replace video games with books.

[–]sanos746 points47 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Lifting, sports, social life. Mostly work. A career. A business. A mission.

[–]Dackel21 1 points [recovered]  (1 child) | Copy Link

Reading, working, exercising, spending time my dog, thinking.

[–]Scorchyy11 points12 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s more than those things actually help you improve your life and well being while porn/video games are just a way to cope and suffer less from the mediocre life you’re living

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Photography, walking my dog 3 hours everyday, graffiti.

Porn is fucking boring man, you're literally cucking yourself.

[–]VigilantSmartbomb4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Never thought about it that way lol

[–]BluntMFer 1 points [recovered]  (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]dusara217-4 points-3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

You mean Martial Arts crack and that place with books?

[–]VigilantSmartbomb2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I heard about that place once good books. Lmao

[–]HalfwayToGlory20 points21 points  (7 children) | Copy Link

Lifting - should be working on yourself to raise your smv anyways. This should at least be an hour as well.

Reading - this can be anything, anything that can stimulate and expand your mind. You don’t just want to be a meathead.

Meditation - you’re going to need a way to purge everything throughout the day. Video games was great for that and while lifting helps. You shouldn’t be lifting everyday.

Gaming - instead of watching the pornos, get out and talk to the hot chicks so you can be the guy in your very own personal pornos instead.

Learn an instrument - just adding on to expanding your mind.

[–]Ethifury7 points8 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

EDIT: Should have noticed Gaming as in talking to chicks

[–]HalfwayToGlory9 points10 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

Gaming as in getting out and talking to women, not playing video games

Edit: and to further add, once you start adding all of these habits to increase your SMV, you really shouldn’t have much time for porn and video games anyways.

[–]Ethifury0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

You’re right about that. I just unplugged my PS4, since I unconsciously stopped thinking about video games since I started lifting. The only thing is I want to go out and game but I live in the suburbs, so there’s not a whole lot of places nearby for me to go. That and there’s a lot of high schoolers that’s mainly in the area

[–]HalfwayToGlory0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

I have the same issue. I kinda have it lucky though since I’m nearby two larger cities so I can go there, but smaller town you have to get creative. Any outlet stores nearby, community events, library(believe it or not), grocery store, hole in the wall bars, etc.

A: last time I checked, hot girls don’t go door to door seeing if there are any cute guys, and B: people like to do stuff.

You’re seeing a lot of high schoolers because you’re going to the general high schooler hotspots.

[–]Ethifury1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Interesting, I kinda figured my area is mainly dominate in high schoolers. I’m waiting on getting a car so I can go downtown for some places to either eat or participate in. But yeah that’s true hot girls typically find a guy at places they go.

[–]Kn1ght0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank you

[–]American_Gypsy16 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

No one is going to tell you this, but it’s up to you. Just don’t half ass it. There are no participation awards. Lift til your swole, then go meditate until you think life is meaningless, and then go read until there’s meaning again.

[–]coloredzebra6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Simply replace them with "better habits":

  • Gym
  • BJJ/MMA
  • Reading
  • Fishing
  • Going for a walk
  • Learning a new skill
  • Learning a new hobby
  • Starting a business
  • Podcasts/Audio books

[–]throwawaybpdnpd5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

With anything that raises my SMV or adds real value to my life:

  • martial arts
  • lifting
  • yoga / pilates
  • reading
  • growing my business
  • networking / socializing
  • cleaning
  • cooking

Etc

[–]ahackercalled4chan9 points10 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

lifting and sex.

why? because I get a tangible benefit from lifting. i look and feel better than I did a year ago. with videogames, you're just one power surge or spilled soda away from losing all your "hard work". and for me, they became more of a source of stress than they did relaxing entertainment.

sex because it's better than whacking it.

[–]DeusIsMais4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Video games: Chess. Requires more strategy than blowing off steam in a run n' gun game. You can do it online or play it as a social game.

All other vices: exercise and general self improvement. Keep your hands busy.

I just go out, approach by saying “I think you’re cute, how’s your day going? They get flustered so I then say “I’m X” and shake their hand. Quick observation about our immediate surroundings , then say I “gotta go but lets grab coffee this week” and then give my phone to them to enter their number.

Text them saying “hey it’s X, the cute guy from X”. Was cool meeting you”.

After they respons I suggest a time for drinks and voila.

After drinks I say “hey I bet I could beat you in “insert game/pool”. And head back to myplace. Mid-game I go for a kiss.

After I start a movie, and 50/50 they are down to fuck first date, otherwise Im patient and do it second date.

Nonfiction & technical books, programming, music production, painting, fiction books, writing poetry. In that order. I also jerk off to porn and get high & play video games occasionally, because I’m not a faggot that can’t moderate activities properly and has to live their life by some weird dogma of internet strangers.

Edit: why are people saying lifting and meditation? Those are supposed to be default lifestyle choices, not hobbies.

[–]Emerald__Faith11 points12 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly, lifting should be like:

  • Brushing your teeth
  • walking the dog

And meditation should be more of a tool you use to navigate your current life directions

Some people on here are obsessed with cloning each others routine instead of understanding the big picture.

[–]VigilantSmartbomb1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

For me it’s not about moderation, each action is either going to improve my life or take away from it as far as I’m concerned so cutting video games out for a pleasure that’s also beneficial seems like an adult thing to do in my book. Just defending to each their own tho!

[–]noPTSDformePlease3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm sitting outside right now 30 minutes before a course to get some sun and I would rather have stayed in the library to read and take notes on the difficult book I am reading right now. To crush my enemies, of course.

[–]Tjinsu2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm actually surprised people can't find other outlets from this shit. I was around some blue pilled type guys recently and they were shocked to find out that I didn't play video games very often and were really interested to know 'what I do all day'. I do lots of other stuff; reading, lifting, playing music, making extra money, etc. Its really not hard, my recommendation to you would be just unplug your computer for a week and fill in your time somehow. You would not believe how much free time you'll free up if you can lay off the video games and porn.

Now having said this, I'm not an anti-porn or anti-gaming guy. I still do both on the odd occasion and IMO there's nothing 'wrong' with either one in my books. Its only bad if you consume it in a excessive amount like anything, so just learn to manage your time better and you'll feel a lot better each day.

[–]MisterRoid2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I play alot of video games and see no reason not to. So long as you are not living with a LTR it's not a problem. I treat it as my darkest secret and let my girlfriend think I'm cheating on her when I say I'm busy, lol. Really, the main problem with things like playing video games and wearing glasses is that it makes people perceive you as a nerd on a subconcious level, and you basically have to be a violent thug or known murderer to overcome that. So it's not a problem so long as you keep it to yourself.

[–]ClydeR00 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

As long as you get your life handled it is totally fine.

I have the feeling that most people try to get to an all or nothing mindset. You can only waste your life 100% by playing video games or you don‘t play them ar all.

But there is also a sweet spot. Improving, coming further in life and still have enough time for doing things „which make no sense to others“. I‘m passionated about some video games. But I‘m also passionated about the gym, hot girls, making more money, reading, living a good life and so on.

Most people who were really addicted never learned how to make this balance. They play‘d too much and didn‘t work enough to get it handled. Now they switch to all the work and forget to enjoy the balance. At the end, it‘s your frame how you want to live life, don‘t let anyone let you tell something different.

Had to really laugh at the cheating part 😂 it‘s totally the same thing I always experience. Or their mind is running like a seal in the hell week, because you don‘t care to answer, because you want to have your quality time with your hobby/work/...

[–]yungplayz4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Replaced porn with actually doing stuff I need to do and learning new skills. Cause I got a lot of stuff I gotta do but I've been always postponing, don't do that now.

Did not and will not replace videogames by anything. Fuck whoever says they need to be gone. They don't.

(Please note that I am not talking about some online multiplayer fappery like League of Legends or Overwatch, those I didn't need to replace because I never spent more than 20 minutes a year on them anyway).

[–]Ethifury6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I never replaced porn with anything, I simply stopped watching it. It doesn’t do much for me anymore. Video games? I still play video games, but I minimized it to weekends when I’m not working overtime. I don’t see the problem with video games if you’re only playing cinematic single player games. Outside of that:

Music - huge stress reliever and keeps my mood up

Reading- goes anywhere from bodybuilding articles, Reddit, random stuff I come across or soon Manga

Lifting- I work out 3 days a week, but soon will bump that up to 4

Media Entertainment- I watch movies, TV shows, Anime, YouTube, etc. As much as I enjoy becoming more redpilled, there’s nothing wrong with watching tv shows. I stray away from sitcoms. Only into stuff like GoT, Into the Badlands, Marvel stuff, etc

Only reason why I don’t socialize much outside of work is because I’m saving up for a car to reduce the amount of time I spend on the bus. One I do that, I’ll more than likely reduce entertainment down to the bare minimum.

[–]RedPillAlphaBigCock1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Do you ever just, like, play table tennis? This constant paranoia, and I'm not saying it's a bad thing, is either the best thing or worst thing that happened to you.

[–]dukes19982 points3 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

It’s defintely just a character he plays in his free time. But to answer your question is crazy paranoia is never a good thing.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't think it's crazy. The style may be a character, and it's crazy by design, to shock and disturb and grab your attention. It's also effective though because, usually, there's something beneath it. I won't hamster on his behalf though, just my experience.

[–]dukes19984 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

GLO has a talent for taking the same red pill advice you hear over and over and repackaging it with some flamboyant language to make people think he’s saying something different, when in reality he’s making the same point everyone else has and mixing it in with some right wing paranoia and curse words to sell his bodybuilding programming.

And it’s works. Good on him.

[–]Endorsed Contributor: "The Court Jester"GayLubeOil1 point2 points  (5 children) | Copy Link

Somehow you didn't get the memo that redpill is quarantined and don't understand the larger political context.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

That's why I said it's not a bad thing. But even for you, this was a stretch. If you're not careful, you'll start sounding as crazy as Andrea Dworkin

[–]Endorsed Contributor: "The Court Jester"GayLubeOil-1 points0 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

Tell me in exact terms what precisely that I'm saying is untrue

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

You and I both know it's not untrue. The expression was disproportionate to the question asked. Now, I know you have a particular style, I don't mean to cramp on it. It may be, and I do say may be, valuable to alternate to a less machine gun approach, especially for a question so simple.

[–]Endorsed Contributor: "The Court Jester"GayLubeOil2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I legitimately don't understand the issue from your perspective. Can you please give that to me?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Sure. I don't have an issue with the content of what you said, but I believe in the context of this question your expression of that idea was overboard. By this I don't mean to say I have a problem with it or particular words or your general style of expression, but rather that what I've learnt from being on TRP for the past couple of years is, different people are it different places with respect to their journey through TRP, and they need to be in a particular position or go through certain experiences before they can understand, accept and use that knowledge. Its easy enough to tell them core TRP knowledge, but if they're not in a place where they can understand it, it either just sounds like buzzwords or garbage, or a particular agenda, just as shouting LIFT at someone won't make them actually go to the gym, unless you can show them the consequences of their actions in the long-term, something you do generally very well btw. In this context, while your response is the 'right' answer, in the way its phrased the person is not in a position to understand or accept it and its easy for them to write it off. In that process they lose the ability to have that value come into their life and you lose your ability to provide value, and rather it detracts value by welcoming troll-ish behaviour as you can see from your other comments.

OP and these other commentators are clearly at a very early stage in their TRP journey, if they're asking these questions, so bombarding with the Red Pill Nuke stuff without context just becomes conspiracy theory jargon to them, and while generally your content is great, in this particular case I'd like to point that points made are sufficiently disconnected to the question asked and the core response given, that is, to read books, as to be largely irrelevant. That's my view, I may be wrong, and I'm open to learning how.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children) | Copy Link

What books?

Amazon isn't the government. They're a private company. Surely you believe in freedom and their right to sell whatever they want right?

[–]WillyPete_Sauna 1 points [recovered]  (3 children) | Copy Link

Government doesn't print and sell books. Amazon does.

A book may not be officially first amendment "banned" but if the monopolistic corporations pull a book and refuse to produce and sell it, it is effectively banned.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

Guess what? There are other places to buy your crappy books.

You complain like a scared paranoid bitch about a private company choosing not to sell your fringe right wing garbage books. Find a real problem

[–]WillyPete_Sauna 1 points [recovered]  (1 child) | Copy Link

christ you are politically clueless. go back to your orgy porgy and let the adults do the thinking if you aren't going to contribute anything other than degeneracy

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Being alt right must be tough. Forced to buy your propaganda from not your favorite book store.

[–]illusiveab2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Hide ya manuscripts, hide ya Rollo, they rapin' everybody out here

[–]WhyIsYosarionNaked0 points1 point  (8 children) | Copy Link

GLO is right that wrong think books are getting the axe on mainstream markets like Amazon. It is not a trivial issue.

GLO, outside of Yockey & Evola, do you have recommendations on books to buy before Amazon goes for another round of bans?

[–]Endorsed Contributor: "The Court Jester"GayLubeOil0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Anything to do with small hat people will be disappeared. Make sure to incorporate some anti establishment far left books like Capitalist Realism, so you don't start sounding like Mustache guy.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children) | Copy Link

Amazon isn't the government. It's a private company. Do you not believe in freedom? Should the government force them to sell your crappy books?

Then I insist religious publishers be forced to sell my erotica. It's only fair

[–]TheBadGoy1 point2 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

Imagine defending Amazon's freedom but not the freedom to buy a "controversial book". What is this? The Soviet Union?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

Please tell me you're just joking or saying this to mindlessly argue and you don't actually think this.

I guess Trump finally got the Communism he wanted.

[–]TheBadGoy1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

So you're seriously defending corporations over individual rights? Never change Ameeica

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

What constitutional right was violated by Amazon not selling your favorite book

[–]WhyIsYosarionNaked0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't buy into the idea of freedom as an all or nothing option, and I certainly don't view it in a vacuum. I'm happy to take Amazon's freedom to be given to people. We aren't talking about a mom & pop local wholesaler, Amazon is a trillion dollar company with multi-trillion dollar potential (Jeff Bezos likely wants Amazon to replace the Internet and brick & mortar retail). I don't give a fuck about their "rights."

Read about United Fruit on Wikipedia or this book. Unchecked companies do shit like overthrow governments, let their workers get killed with untested chemicals, and all sorts of other unsavory behavior. Amazon treats their workers like garbage and even patented a worker cage, so I have no interest in giving a company like that the authority to determine which books pass the ethical sniff test. I am 100% OK with them being treated like a utility that people are entitled to, especially as a platform for selling books with controversial ideas.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank you for admitting you don't give a shit about amazon selling your gay book and only care about bringing down Amazon

[–]forsaken_in_the_dark2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Liberalism is these days a codeword for Marxism and has nothing to do with freedom.

[–]justlafleur1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

In my opinion, playing video games won’t lower your smv. You shouldn’t be playing them 24/7. But if you do other things like go to the gym or read, or talk to women then I don’t see anything wrong with it.

[–][deleted]1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

What's with video games lol?

Work.

[–]CaptDeadlift0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I can't say I did replace them.

From time to time I'll whip it out to porn and I do play video games in my free time since I enjoy a well made single player game for the story. ( Metro franchise)

I really couldn't have it better right now.

Playing games every day or in general for hours is bad but playing for a 2-3h in your free time after you've finished your shit is perfectly fine since it's like reading a book but with a interactive story that you shape.

Ideally you should cut out porn and do the real thing.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Cucking.. sorry i meant cooking is very underappreciated hobby for men. Men are best cooks and women love men who know how.

[–]ConcealingFate0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Board games and reading. Board games are social and engage your brain. For porn, somr literotica is pretty damn good. Or just think about some girls and jerk off

Music- when I am in a state of flow it’s almost like meditating and time flys. Can be abused though if you have too much fun and lose track of time as you need to treat it as a blessing.

Lifting- feel like daddy after a nice lift. Mental cleanse from whatever was bothering me that day.

Calling my friends when off from work - I do this twice a week, today I called my buddy James. We talked for 20 min and expressed how our days went. This is how to keep those you care about close.

[–]RPDream0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I replaced it with reading, lifting, meditation, socializing... I am generally now more focused on improving my career as well as my physical and mental health.

Let me clarify that you need to cut anything that isolates you from reality and the present moment such as porn, video games, drugs, etc On the other hand, practice getting closer to reality and the present moment through meditation.

[–]dtyler860 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Music. I literally Didn’t have to even try. At 17 i bought a little recording console and a drum machine and realized it stimulated all of the same needs except it gave me an actual product at the end of the time spent and growth actually made me very proud. Now that I am older and music is not as much a part of my life and I have transferred into filmmaking which is my full-time job. Video games can be a great thing for a while, but they are an absolute total fucking waste of time and only serve entertainment value. Find something entertaining that gives you more than it takes. Something that takes your time and gives you immediate pleasure that you will not remember three months from now is, in my opinion, not a worthy investment. I do you recognize this is read it and a lot of people here are totally into video games so I really don’t mean any offense, but from the outside looking in it’s about as pointless of an investment as people who obsess over football all day. Hit the gym, go for a bike ride, read some books and get better at something and you will love it just as much

Lifting. Fuck Buddies. Social Sports. Going out with friends. Working full time. That last one is probably the biggest factor.

Replaced anime/japanese video games with BJJ and Strength and conditioning because why watch the hero's journey where you can be the hero in your "own" journey.

[–]Unknockable0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

Video games shouldn’t be looked at as an counterproductive hobby

[–]noPTSDformePlease4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

their not counterproductive, but they are not productive either. They are mostly just a time waster.

[–]rautap3nis0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Agree. Especially competitive online games with your friends are good for social interaction and team playing skills. It's a group that tries to be better than their opponent together all the while subtly learning bantering skills and building identity.
I mean of course you can't be the best of the best unless you're very very gifted, and that's why most folks should limit the amount of time they use on those so that it'd be the "after shit is done" hobby.

[–]dm222-1 points0 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

are tv shows ok?

[–]CaptainBW4 points5 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, occasional watching of tv shows you enjoy is ok...wtf lol. It’s just not a hobby. It’s passive, relaxing entertainment. Maybe have fun and challenge yourself to write your own episode of a show you enjoy.

[–]empatheticapathetic3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

What about cake boss?

[–]Ethifury0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Which ones? I don’t see a problem with it as long as you don’t let it take up all your time.

[–]Internet-Troll-4 points-3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Everyone be like lifting and sex.

But reality is, lifting? I would rather sleep, and what sex?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
