Women argue that the first thing men seek in women is their look unlike women who seek financial stability first. But it's pretty obvious (at least imo) that even if this is true, what men find attractive varies more than what women find attractive.

Are there any studies that support this?

There was the ok Cupid study that showed men generally were on a bell curve whereas women saw about 80% of men unattractive I think tinder did a similar study as well

I’m going to be a massive dick right now and I do apologize. They both form bell curves but the male opinions of women fall much closer to the normal distribution .

It can confuse people though including myself not so long ago.

I already understood that. I just didn’t really explain myself well enough. However it doesn’t mean that women’s male preferences are extremely unrealistic. Women thinking a man that’s a 7 is only average is an unrealistic standard to go off. Think of it like this, if every mans dick was 7 inches long it would be considered average but that doesn’t mean it’s not a BIG DICK. And that’s what women’s standards are. They think a man that’s 5’10” is only average when he’s in fact above average.

Yeah, I think most people on the sub grasp the significance of the sex disparities in reproductive expectations. It’s why we’re here.

In what way does it look like a normal distribution (archive)? The Chart

While there is a hump and distrubuted a little like it, it's certainly not even close. And you could say that women were hesitant to put people in the worst category (i.e. many more 1's rather than 0's).. and while it's not 80-20 - it's close enough (it looks more like 77-23).

The better way to think about is to accept women are not attracted to men in the same way. Instead, focus on building a good, attractive life for yourself - and invite women to tour it.

I believe my exact wording was closer to the normal distribution

I reviewed the literature here:

https://old.reddit.com/r/BlackPillScience/comments/a91q82/are_sex_differences_in_attractiveness_ratings/

There is consistent evidence that in online and "offline" dating, men rate women as more attractive (about d = .75-1.2). This implies that men find a wider range of females attractive than vice-versa.

The best quality offline study (Birnbaum) has a smaller effect size than OkCupid, but according to my calculations not significantly smaller.

You can check out income-looks tradeoffs here to get an idea how important these factors relative to one another:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BlackPillScience/comments/8a4aur/how_much_money_do_you_need_to_make_in_order_to/

On OkCupid, both sexes send more messages to more attractive individuals to nearly the same extent as the slope suggests here, so the executed lookism is very similar even though women rate fewer men as attractive (possibly because women are aware that they have relatively poor chances with someone much more attractive).

The fact that men receive much fewer messages than women across all levels of attractiveness, can perhaps best be expained as follows: (1) Women (but not men) choose based on the ability to provide in addition to looks (and this ability only correlates weakly with looks). (2) Women naturally do not initiate anything; they wait and choose rather passively (the hornier the males, the easier and to some extent necessary this strategy is), so they also send much fewer messages.

It's pretty obvious

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
