Here’s a better explanation: Men have to go through shit on a regular basis that would cause most women to have complete breakdowns. One of the only things to keep us from roping, is our ability to laugh at the shit we are in day in and day out. Women are given life on a silver platter. This is why they aren’t funny. They don’t get anywhere near the abyss.

Very astute. The whole "tears of a clown" stereotype, suffering increasing the ability to self-reflect and humour as a coping mechanism to lessen sadness.

I would also argue that banter between men contributes to this, as well as using humour to defuse hostile social situations.

Don’t conflate your exposure to first world/western countries as a universal truth. Throughout the world, the average woman goes through a lot more. Go to Africa, the Middle East, or India if you don’t believe me

They may not be coddled versus western women, but they are typically better off then the men of their social class in terms of material comfort and are more protected from hardships.

I think the real reason is, as usual, down to societal expectations. Since comedy is such a male-dominated industry, humorous women are seen almost as tomboys. There is more to it than that but this is the TLDR
