Wanting to implement some good habits / routines. Curious to see what things you do daily to enhance your quality of life ♥️

I brush and walk my dog, do my makeup (sounds trite, but my makeup routine makes me feel ready to face the world), make breakfast (generally a poached egg, smoked salmon, on top of greens from the garden), pack my lunch for work, tend to my garden (water, weed, harvest if I’m lucky), and then make my bed and clean whatever dishes I made.

3-4 times a week I make time to go to the gym. Even if just for half an hour, and at least twice a week I make sure to do yoga. That really helps keep me from feeling too anxious all of the time.

All of these things make me healthier, and more fulfilled.

Your breakfast sounds amazing. What kind of greens do you grow in your garden?

[–]CorpseProject5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I am currently growing mizuna, arugula, spinach, Swiss chard, and a kale varietal.

[–]indiaraw5 points6 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Amazing routine! Also your breakfast sounds delish, I gotta stop relying on cappuccinos to fuel my mornings... 😳 & love yoga so much ! Helps my mind, body & soul ♥️

[–]CorpseProject6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

If you’d like inspo/recipes for easy healthy breakfast ideas HMU. I can also share my poached egg technique with anyone who’s interested.

[–]ASmallGardenFairy1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Yoga has helped my anxiety so much!! I love your routine, and definitely going to incorporate more time spent with my garden too! ❤️

Some days are different, but I wake up early, get some coffee, and spend a few minutes to check the news. Then I clean. Make my bed. How I start the day is really important, so I try to start it being productive.

The rest of my day varies. I clean, make meals, play and take care of my kids, and I make time to do something I enjoy.

[–]luvdat160025 points26 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Hatred an coffee, I know I’m not alone.

[–]indiaraw3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Hahaha no you’re not dear 😂 that fuels me too

[–]Theendisnearornot14 points15 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

My ideal daily routine (which I occasionally do in full, but it’s usually bits and pieces) is workout/walk the dog, shower (wipe down the bathroom a bit after), make breakfast, do my Bible study, make a daily agenda. I have to be very intentional if I want to fit all of it in before the kids get up. I have found if I get woken up (especially by crying and screaming) I am in a bad mood and it’s hard for me to get out of it. A few mornings in a row like that? And I’m downright miserable. So it means getting to bed early. So I like to take a bath and get in bed by like 10 (which I also have to be really intentional about).

I do quite a bit of prep for the next day (if it's a weekday) the night before to make mornings before I go to work as relaxing as possible. At the bare minimum I:

Pack lunches

Grind coffee beans and fill the kettle so I just have to press a button and pour everything into the French press in the morning

Lay out my outfit for work and the gym

Finish up all dishes and make sure everything is put away

Spend 5 minutes tidying

This all takes about 15 minutes, but feels like it frees up so much time and energy in the morning!

[–]indiaraw2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m the same!! Night prep is the way to go. I do everything in slow motion in the mornings so it’s very important I do as much as I can the night before ... otherwise future me suffers 😅

Honestly I still have a lot to improve but I try to wake up at the same time (around 6), drink water right after I get up, eat some breakfast (varies from scrambled eggs to oatmeal with honey/fruits/chocolate to donuts 😆) and tea, have a shower, brush my teeth, do my hair and sometimes makeup (usually just cream, concealer and blush, sometimes a bit of mascara as well).

Then do whatever I have planned for the day. It helps me to write down 3 main things I have to get done and really make sure I complete these tasks. After that, if I want, I add some more things to the list.

I workout in the afternoon - I'm a broke student so I can't really afford to go to gym often, but I like to do youtube workouts! (if someone is interested, I can recommend a few workout channels I love). That takes me from 5 to 30 minutes. It's not a lot but it helps me to really be consistent and exercise every day - so if I don't feel like doing much, I'll just tell myself "ok, just this 5 minute video and that's it". Other than that, I'm also getting into jogging! I can't run for a long time yet but I think it's super fun.

I'm interested in hearing your YT workout channel suggestions. I also am a YT workout person and so far my #1 fave has been Gymra, but I always like new suggestions.

Okayy, here we go!

  • blogilates - I followed her monthly calendars when workout was a new thing for me. I thought it's so practical because she literally tells you what workouts to do every day (there's a focus on a certain body part each day of the week, one day is rest day a.k.a. stretching day).

  • Chloe Ting - recommend especially her ab workouts, I personally could see results in 2 weeks of doing her workouts every day (while not changing/improving anything in my diet). She has workouts focused on other body larts but I didn't try them so I can't say.

  • Holly Dolke - especially like her short (but intense as heck) workouts.

  • Rebecca-Louise - I love her positive attitude, she's the only one that can keep a smile on my face while dying (the good sweaty death lol)

  • Pamela Rf - I only tried her plank video so I don't know about the rest but she has a lot of fans, so I guess they're good as well.

  • Yoga With Adriene - just yoga, I don't know if you're into that but if you are, check her out. She has a couple muscle toning videos too, and I love her overall vibe. So calming.

I think that's about it, if I remember some more, I'll add them. Also, thanks for mentioning Gymra! Never heard of her until now so it's great to expand my youtube-workout-channels-knowledge 😁

[–]HolidayCandies2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks! I will check them out! Gymra is actually a bunch of different trainers. I like the older videos from a few years back better than the more recent.

  1. Meditate for 10 minutes.
  2. Write down in a journal 3 things I'm grateful for (even if it's something dumb and small like "I'm grateful for my hot cup of coffee bc sometimes finding stuff can be hard but that's when it's most important to do it).
  3. Taking the time before I leave to work to sit age drink my daily coffee in silence.

These things are important because life is so busy and because I give my time to a job I don't care about the least I can do is take some time to myself in the morning.

It betters me by having me slow down, realize what's important, what I'm grateful for and to remember that I'm important too.

Edited for spelling mistakes.

Adding: I'm not perfect and sometimes I slack in my routine and when I don't do these things I feel grumpy and sad. So it really does help.

[–]indiaraw2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Love the concept of noting down what you’re grateful for ♥️

[–]eatavacado3 points4 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

My morning routine: make my bed, bullet journal the plan for the day/ write out my thoughts about something on my mind, and then go to then get dressed for it and go to the gym! Keeps my head straight and my body improving

[–]indiaraw2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Absolutely love bullet journaling and getting it all out on paper 🙌♥️

[–]eatavacado0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

girl yesss 👏

I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

I'm also in touch with humanity 👍

[–]Bob_Fred_881 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Do you like Huey Lewis and The News?

[–]titamc3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I wake up, shower, get dressed, feed my dog, put the lunch boxes on our bags, run out, catch the bus, go to work, work, have lunch, work, catch the bus, go home, make dinner and lunch, eat, sleep. It does not better me in any way

[–]craftybird91 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

My regular routine: get up, feed my dog, walk her, have breakfast while surfing the Web, do my Lectio Divina, Morning Prayer online, on Monday and Tuesday I attend a mental health day program, Wednesday I'm home, do things around the house, read, knit or crochet, Thursday whatever, Friday varies and Saturdays I go to a Meetup Knitting crochet group and then volunteer at the library. Sunday morning is church, lunch, nap. At night I watch DVDs-we have no TV and crochet.

I also work on meditating daily-Heartfulness meditation rocks! Simple and nondenominational!

  • Wake-up and move the car (we're on a waitlist for a parking space, so I have to move the car by 8am every morning), then we make coffee and he catches up on the stocks news while I water all the plants and brush the two cats.

  • Excluding Tuesday & Thursdays when we get up an hour earlier to go play tennis together and then go to the market to buy fresh lunch supplies. (He loves these little trips to the store otherwise I'd be doing them post-work myself).

  • He'll pack the lunches and refill any empty water bottle and put it in the fridge while I make the bed, do my hair and get dressed and leave for work. (I leave 2 hours before him).

  • During this time we'll make a list together of all the tasks that need to be completed and the groceries I need to pickup after work.

  • During my lunch I spend my time either getting groceries (close to my work) or I'll watch a 'girly show' while I eat.

  • Post work, I'll do any shopping I need to without him. Get home, immediately start aload of laundry, feed the cats, and clean any and all tasks immediately. Afterwards I'll start coooking dinner and during thsi time I'll work on my photography. (If I'm too busy, he'll set up everything for me as he's a photographer too and loves the tech set-up part). After dinnerI'll spend time working on my craft.Only about 1-2hrs of that and then I'm hanging out with him the rest of the night doing whatever (TV, reading, video games). He goes to bed 1hr earlier than me so then I'll shower and take my bubble bath or whatever after that.

  • I like having my 1hr after he's in bed to just turn myself down and I like having time to work on my craft.

My life is pretty cramped and not a ton of time for self-improvement on a larger scale but it's good for the time being (on track to be a SAHW/M).

I always make sure my kitchen is clean and dishes are done every night before bed because waking up to a clean kitchen is important in my opinion. I always start my days with waking up at 5am, I make my bed, I have a skin care and dental care routine I do every morning that make me feel like I'm taking good care of my skin and teeth. I do my makeup and fix my hair so I feel cute and presentable, and have make breakfast before I exercise (yes i exercise in make up). I try to read in the mornings, listen to podcasts, or watch youtube videos on things such as self improvement or motivation just to help self my mind right for the day. I exercise 6x the week, sunday is a day off for me which I sleep in (selfcare babyyyy yaaaaa)

[–]LucetteVanVeen0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I start the day with a full glass of water with a tablespoon or so of lemon juice in it. So easy, very refreshing and hydrating, does wonders for my skin.

[–]BePrivateGirl0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

I wake up and do a few sun salutations.

Then I have coffee, and go for a run.

Sure I could also wake up by reading my phone, or watching tv, but I start the day burning calories.

While I’m running I can: plan my day, prioritize, decide what I want to make for dinner.

Once you make it a habit it’s a lot less exhausting than it sounds.

[–]chachaxia0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

How long do you run for in the mornings?

[–]BePrivateGirl0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Usually for at least an hour.

When I get closer to a race day it gets longer.

[–]kyle875-5 points-4 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

I wake up and down a shake first thing. Food and diet is extremely important (I eat 4000 calories a day) then I take pre workout instead of coffee and head to the gym. Workout for about 2 hours. Take a shower and put on my work clothes. Then I drive to my job. Eating healthy food throughout that time. Get off work and usually meet up with friends. Eat some food, start a fire, go drive somewhere. Then I go home to my apartment. Cook up my last meal of the day. And watch tv or a movie. The I turn off al screens and all lights and usually light some incense. Meditate for about an hour. Then sleep for 8 hours. I sleep with no lights no sounds and Black our curtains. Wake up and do it agains. I also follow the oat McNamara rule. Every morning is a Monday morning and every night is a Saturday night. I always work and always workout. But I go out and do something almost every night. Work hard play hard. This betters me as I put on about 0.5 lbs a week of muscle and I get stronger. I do cold showers which is good for lots. Meditation helps my mental health. And I improve my social life. I eat healthy food and get good sleep.

RPW is the women's sub. You should be participating on TRP not here.

What time you wake up?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
