Look at older times like when Schopenhauer and Nietzsche were around. All they could do was read books, write and rot in their rooms.

Now look what we can do. Videogames, porn, VR, computers, gyms/sports clubs and that is just the beginning.

Sure rent and utilities may be only going up. But as a single male you only have one person to spend money on.....YOU.

You can buy whatever you like. A new cool car, save for an apartment by the beach (no living in the drudgery of suburbia with some fat entitled wife and 3 kids who hate you).

Eat whatever you like, no girlfriend nagging you to be healthy. As long as you keep gyming you can eat that pizza and drink that beer. You can go to a strip-club/topless bar for some nice alcoholic beveridges until 3 in the morning.

It's actually pretty good. And maybe best of all, you can do whatever you like. Wanna quit that soul sucking engineering job, you can file that resignation letter on Monday. There's many more options for careers too, be as ambitious/unambitious as you like; change careers if you're bored. One day you're designing oil and gas plants, the next you're coding Android apps, the next you run a strip club.

It's pretty good.

I'd say it's the best time in history to be just about anyone, unless you're someone who would've otherwise been actual royalty. And even then, a case could be made.

200 years ago my ancestors were essentially peasants. I would've spent my life more than likely illiterate, working as a laborer in agriculture (as did almost everyone), in a rural area with very little access to education, books, etc. I wouldn't get any travel unless I was conscripted/impressed into someone's army or navy to be cannon fodder.

And the incidence of death from violence, whether it be from war, crime, or just a fight in a tavern, was higher than now. Some people lament the lower testosterone men have today, but I'd rather be around 'cucks' and 'soy-boys' (i.e. knowledge workers and intellectuals) than around ill-tempered hard-laboring guys from, say, McCarthy's Blood Meridian. Which I bring up just because I re-read it last week.

Eat healthy, dress with fitted stylish clothing, style your hair (or shave it if you have none / wear hats), branch out hobbies so you have interesting points of conversation and things to do with romantic interests, build a social circle of positive influences that keep you in positive feedback loops, identify negative feedback loops in your exterior and interior and cut them out of your life.

Every single one of these things will not be handed to you. If you are willing to go forth and build toward these things this life is yours for the taking, but it will require effort and many uncomfortable failures along the way. Giving up and saying it can’t be done is the only way you guarantee your loss.

Yes money isn't that easy. But you can be smart with what you do.

1) Don't live in competitve high cost of living areas (Manhattan, San Fran, LA, Boston); you'll get eaten alive by high costs of living and people genetically superior to you.

2) Find a cheaper area and save. Then invest from there.

3) You can do lots on an average income (read not rich), just gotta save tonnes (easy if you don't have a wife or kids), try to invest to make more, find other ways to make more money too.

Easier said than done of course. But that's the secret (there is no secret).
