Red Pill Theory20 and lost? Advice from an old guy. (self.TheRedPill)

submitted by [deleted]

I'm old, wealthy and have a lot of kinky sex.

Which means I got pretty good at translating womanese. Seeing the patterns in the code.

Been here on TRP/MRP for 2 1/2-3 years, Didn't even comment for a year... I was learning. Reading. Seeing what theories matched up with my real life experiences. Putting it all together.

TRP is an extended release capsule... you can't crush it up and snort it.

Wish I had this resource when I was 20.

So, if you're 20.....beginners guide to life...

If you are here and willing to do the work, you'll be drowning in pussy.

The best advice I can give you is put your own oxygen mask on first. That means putting yourself first. If you don't you become part of the problem, not the solution.

Nobody is going to hand you an amazing life. You have to do it.

You are a man. The world will try to twist you to accomplish their goals instead of your own. Recognize this, do the things that YOU want to do.

Develop your frame. Be aware of the intrusion attempts. Everybody wants something.

Lift. My submitted history has a long post on the benefits of lifting. It's not just about getting jacked. But it kind of is. But not really...Just read it and get your ass to the gym.

Get your career and finances sorted out, and start saving. This is KEY. It's a true shame there is no standard education about becoming a financially secure adult all through school - should be a HS course like math. Compound interest means the sooner you start saving, the sooner you'll be a millionaire. 10% of your income. You won't miss it.

Use this resource. Absorb it. Yeah, it's big and fragmented and full of conflicting information, but you need to realize the sub is trying to describe complex intersexual dynamics - not an easy task when everybody wants a shortcut.

This sub IS the shortcut. Don't look for the cheat codes, there are none and a lot of what you read you need to go practise/tweak/modify to match your individual life. Make the effort in real life.

Consider your sources. The vast majority of guys here are just getting started or are angry at something. Watch for flaired members' posts, check post history, and realize that points and upvotes here mean NOTHING (since the vast majority of voters don't know TRP yet, they vote with their opinions, not their knowledge). Opinions are common, everybody has one and you never need to defend an opinion. Knowledge, you need to work for that, and you will need to defend your base. Few have knowledge.

That's why you see pandering feel good posts upvoted to the moon, but zero flaired comments in the massive "attaboy!" comment section. See if the EC's agree. Otherwise realize there are a lot of blind here who are unwittingly leading more blind, often in the wrong direction.

When it comes down to it, this place just describes the tools necessary to build what you want to build. Your job is to choose the right tools.

Without a man or a plan the best toolbox in the world is useless. If you don't practice with the tools on a regular basis, they get rusty and your skills diminish.

Finally, you're young. You're BOUND to fuck up. You'll fuck up multiple times and in multiple ways. That's expected. What is not tolerable about these fuckups is if you don't learn from those mistakes. To the point where your mindset should be..

"There is no lose, you win or you learn."

How bad do you want the life you want?

This guy here knows. We live in the best possible time for a single male.

The internet is the shortcut to life, everybody who disagrees will be left behind. How can you possibly dismiss the vast amount of knowledge and it's instant accessibility. I've gained tremendous value by following the right people. We're standing on shoulders of giants so that we can become mountains.

[–]binarynightmare100 points101 points  (35 children) | Copy Link

We live in the best possible time for a single male, if he has high SMV - and the absolute worst time for a single male if he doesn't.

[–]Senior Endorsed ContributorCopperFox3c98 points99 points  (22 children) | Copy Link

One of the key things that binds us together here at TRP, regardless of race or background or political persuasion, is a rejection of the victim mentality so prevalent in the modern day West.

To your point, it is incumbent upon us to maximize our SMV. If we are not being treated how we want in life, we have the power to change that. But it requires us as men to cast aside our illusions, our fairy tales, our Disney stories. It requires us to put the effort in. To take the setbacks in stride. Two steps forward, one step back.

Those who see reality for what it is, can bend it to their will … those who see only illusion, are bent to its will.

[–][deleted] 46 points47 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

And that's the difference between redpill and all the other incel/nofap/mgtow/blackpill assholes out there....

Put in the effort.

[–]Endorsed Contributorsadomasochrist18 points19 points  (17 children) | Copy Link

You seriously have to have an objective viewpoint here. I'm really tired of what I've been calling "Jim Jonesing" or orwellian doublespeak.

The user above you has a valid point, and frankly, it is not disputable.

There are lots of guys, A LOT, who will NEVER be attractive enough to find love, let alone sex. This is a basic mathematical, economic fact, that needs to be acknowledged to get the incel retards out of here, let them have this point, it's true, it's valid.

But lets be clear, it's VERY low. Casey Neistat is my new favorite example. This guy is a troll that is inshape, has his life in order and has some social credibility.

Would I say this guy is high SMV? No. Not really. This guy is a great red pill example of a high beta.

And a lot of those guys are just saying "hey, I'm not willing to work that hard to be a high beta."

Fair enough.

The sad thing is we're not taking their arguments seriously, they are valid.

The truth of the matter is, the saddest, truly saddest part of this, is the fact that they are still in their absolute misery fucking DUTY BOUND.

UNBELIEVABLE.

These are guys that have fully accepted that they could die alone without any ever having truly loved them, without any intimacy. And STILL, they aren't willing to game a girl that's trying to game him to be a provider.

There's nothing that would stop Casey Neistat from amassing a respectable n count, pumping and dumping women trying to slot him as providers.

We both know damn well that not all beta traps are transparent enough to put them on the burner for weeks, months or years. Those guys are probably closer to low betas or even omegas.

And frankly, popular dating culture is a degree of high betas. Women in general aren't trying to lock down AF, most women know better.

So the fact that people here are constantly trying to maintain the framed idea of "just work harder faggot" isn't to my mind helpful.

Hey, fine, if really, objectively you've got that guys face, they're right. Unless you pick up some dirty and dark habits and start pulling on that, you are absolutely destined for life as at best a high beta.

So fine, play that game. Tell her she's gorgeous, buy her flowers and when she starts trying to turn on the tap and start extracting value, tell her that "love is a mystery" and move on.

It is a god damn tragedy that we haven't woken up and given these guys some viable strategy.

Lots of these guys in incel have valid concerns. Though I would say MOST DON'T.

So let's sort this shit out, get them dealt with and fucking move on as a sub.

Just stop with the double speak and pretending this isn't a real phenomenon and problem. If people look at your face with horror and disgust, and you're a manlet and punch with a 100IQ, fine, work on informed beta game, still looksmax and keep your misery off the forum.

But pretending some of these guys don't have this issue is bullshit. Tell them to "bend it to their will." But they'll still have to work within a pragmatic reality, that no woman will ever look at them as "hot."

You gotta be out of your mind to look at a guy like Casey and think this guy is or was ever going to be AF to any woman. Even if he got rid of his provider game. He, represents the looksmaxed incel who moves up to high beta. And only because we haven't informed them that they, you don't have to stay with those women... moron.

But they can't even understand that because that's too far down the pipe for these guys, who are still imagining what it feels like to be inside a woman. Understand, these guys, are in mental spaces that if we had to experience would horrify us from their sadness and ignorance.

So give them light, be thankful, that your problems extend within the realm of normality. Worrying about normie problems like "who shouldn't I get pregnant?" Not, "will I die alone?"

[–]Senior Endorsed ContributorCopperFox3c12 points13 points  (15 children) | Copy Link

There are things in life you can control, and things you can't. Focus on the things you can ... Stoicism 101.

The goal is not to be perfect. The goal is to be better. And we can all be better. If you are working hard with the idea that you are going to reach perfection, or some idealized end-state where your life is perfect, then that's a fool's errand.

[–]Endorsed Contributorsadomasochrist5 points6 points  (14 children) | Copy Link

That's not the point of my post. The point is, that's all fine and well when you're saying to someone "hey man, looks like you can't be a astrophysicist."

Hey, okay, sure. Limitations on your life, great. Be stoic.

These are people who are terrified of not being able to validate themselves at fundamental levels critical to human functionality.

There is a good god damn reason these are the kinds of guys that end up going on killing sprees.

Even in their private, desolate spot on the internet, the world wouldn't even let them have that.

So at least give these guys the information to keep them from shooting what could be a family member of yours.

These guys are legitimately dangerous and your view is part of it.

I can't believe no one has told these guys how to properly countergame a provider hunter. This is outrageous we haven't covered this.

[–]Endorsed ContributorRuleZeroDAD10 points11 points  (11 children) | Copy Link

I can't believe no one has told these guys how to properly countergame a provider hunter. This is outrageous we haven't covered this.

Ok, Mystery, show them the method.

Game and PUA in general gets shit on in the TRP sphere by the "self-improvement" fags, because everyone is ultra-focused on the political implications of game, and not getting fucked.

"You guys focus too much on pussy. Not hard-core red bro."

"Red Pill is about making yourself a better man, guys."

Red Pill is derived from game, distilled from PUA, and is about getting fucked well and often. Rule Zero.

Make the post. Get provider targets laid. Fill the vacuum you perceive.

[–]Endorsed Contributorsadomasochrist4 points5 points  (6 children) | Copy Link

If mods will allow, I'll post a scrap for incels we can link to and tell them to GTFO otherwise. But I assume it'll be deleted.

I mean it'd literally be beta game, literally.

[–]Rian_Stone2 points3 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

You'll be fine. Rule 0 is the only hard and fast thing they hold to. If it builds a mans sexual strategy (guess from notch count 0 - 1 is a noble goal as any)

And if it disappears immediately, it was probably automod, messag the mods, and they can quickly scan and reapprove.

[–]Endorsed Contributorsadomasochrist0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Will invest minimal time in this, but I trust your word.

[–]Endorsed ContributorBluepillProfessor1 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Beta Game recommendations for Incels?

What could possibly go wrong?

I like where you are going with this because I always wanted to figure out how to turn an incel into an Alpha but....

[–]Endorsed Contributorsadomasochrist3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I think taking a guy from incel to spinning plates is so unlikely the advice is for all intents and purposes unhelpful.

They need to get to level AFC first IMO.

Also, these aren't the incel sub types, but instead primarily bottom 50 guys that are in shape that are reaching the point of giving up.

It's BP, but red pill aware and for a small subset of users who are in danger of giving up who have actually tried.

The post is strongly worded against any significant user base. PMs are from guys that are 4'11" etc.

Think the post has merit, TRP theory dictates many will never reach top 20. That's a raw and real fact of life true for millions of men that frankly we should all be thankful we don't have to worry about.

[–]Endorsed Contributorsadomasochrist1 point2 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

Done... I should not have done this. Yuck...

[–]Endorsed ContributorRuleZeroDAD2 points3 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Nothing a shower won't fix, and if Rocky Dennis gets laid, you'll have done a good thing.

[–]Endorsed Contributorsadomasochrist2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Most of these guys are in search for legit help, I'm getting a lot of PMs and the guys aren't angry, they're just looking for real advice.

I would say the r incel types, are more rare than this subset from what I can see.

Fundamentally, it appears that the problem is that a woman's mate preferences are clearly pickier when she's looking for a contributor. And given that these guys are swinging low, the technique does have to shift back to mainstream game.

There are I would say a roughly equal mix of guys that are on the fence that mostly have their things together that need work on their social and inner game.

So all and all, I don't think the incel problem is as bad as we maybe feel in our gut, and there are a lot of guys here that should be getting their feet wet first in BP land, IMO.

I don't think someone can hop directly into a red pill existence from the outset. And without overthinking it, I believe guys that are learning this before dating naively are possibly setting themselves back a bit.

To my mind it makes more sense to use TRP to recalibrate and let die some false hopes and dreams, but to build yourself using only the knowledge we give I think is probably not a good idea.

That's just my gut read on the situation here.

I think the vast vast majority are only here because we went through an organic process where we finally figured that we had understood the system we were in, only to eventually be confronted headon with evidence that women do not operate in a way that was can wrap our head around, rationally.

Enter a pile of essays and guys here to shepard the fallen in their time of need.

But I feel as though that pilgrimage is necessary. I imagine, when my son is old enough, he must experience the blue pill heartbreak and that I don't think I would build him from the ground up, mentally. Though physically, that affords some comfort.

[–]InfiniteAscent2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I can't believe no one has told these guys how to properly countergame a provider hunter. This is outrageous we haven't covered this.

As an older guy, I'd really like to see that documented. When you're over 40 the world is full of provider-hunters. Shit, I've seen provider poachers out there. A lot of them recognize chad as a mistake and will not play his game any more (much as they may want to).

[–]Endorsed Contributorsadomasochrist4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

It's this simple, don't commit. Do all the things mainstream advice advocates. Don't display any red pill tropes. Don't be honest about your intentions.

When she starts trying to extract resources above and beyond what you're willing to pay, pull the plug.

It's the beta version of "the talk."

[–]truedemocracy30 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

That last line is very powerful - and perfectly summarizes my dating experiences pre- and post- RP. Having since worked on myself and knowing what women respond to I can play out so many situations in the way I want, it's ridiculous. In a previous life it was about having those situations hopefully fall in my lap. Now it's about making them.

Trying to translate that mindset currently to business and entrepreneurship. Let me know if you have any advice

[–]Endorsed ContributorBluepillProfessor5 points6 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

The nice thing about smv is it can be learned!!! Not fully. A smv 1 is not going to turn into a 7 until after the plastic surgery. But the vast majority of men hoovering in the 4-7 Range can improve Dramatically. A 4 can become an 8 without even much work. Not so for girls. Advantage, men.

[–]3LiveAFTSOV0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

I've honestly never seen a 1 turn into a 7, even with plastic surgery.

Is that even possible?

Discounting money, time, etc. Can a ugly become a model tier face, or atleast very good looking with surgery?

Just never seen it on google, and I've spent HOURS looking. Most I get are rhinoplastys / chin surgerys.

[–]Endorsed ContributorBluepillProfessor1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I said a 4 male can turn into a 7 or even an 8 without much work. If you are a mutant with a horribly burned or deformed face, a terrible stutter, and a hunchback then you are a "1" and obviously you can't get up to a 7. You could get to a 4-5 however on assertiveness and confidence alone.

I also think you underestimate how effective plastic surgery can be. Plenty of ordinary looking starlets become "HOT" after a few sessions under the knife.

[–]3LiveAFTSOV0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Like i said, have never seen drastic plastic surgerys, but i really would like to

[–]binarynightmare0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I guess the hardwork part is subjective. Like for me, my journey from 30% body fat to 15% has been a lengthy and challenging task. I guess a 4 could become an 8 with about two years of invested discipline and other resources (some time and money).

[–]DieEinfalt 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

agree. And the best possible time to become high SMV.

[–]binarynightmare0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I think I mostly agree with this. Things like Amazon, Google, Reddit, etc remove so many physical barriers of self improvement that existed even 2 decades ago. The only slight hesitation I have on this assertion is that the same technologies have also skyrocketed competition - in everything, including the sexual market. You no longer have to be in the top 20% of the neighborhood or town, you have to compete with men who drive in or communicate from a 40 mile radius.

[–]kpeach540 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Hey man I’ve been looking for an explanation on all these acronyms With no luck. Maybe I’m blind, but Can you point me in the right direction?

[–]Seishuu-2 points-1 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Only someone with zero grasp on history would comment something like that. High or low SMV, you're insanely country if you live in a country that's not too much of a shithole right now. It's just on you to maximize your experience, the system won't push your forward that much.

[–]binarynightmare0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Well of course. And even if you live in a shithole you're technically lucky that you have all your limbs in that shithole. And even if you live in a shithole with no limbs you are lucky that you got to experience something in life, unlike all those who died during infancy.

So yes, my statement here is a bit of an exaggeration, but I think it gets the point across.

[–]DieEinfalt 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

easy. Go to Twitter. Type: Alexander J. Cortes, Illimitable Men, Wallstreet Playboys, Rollo Tomassi, Ed Latimore. There are plenty more, but they should get you started. Read their feed daily. Read their history. Read their blogs. They speak truth. See if you can handle it.

Watch Jordan Peterson's lectures on Nietzsche, Jung etc. Be amazed how much your mindset will change. Observe how you suddenly think on another level.

Move your fat-ass to the gym. Watch Jeff Nippard on YouTube. Do your diligence. Go lift hard. Become a greek god.

Get into cryptocurrency. Don't browse reddit for that shit, it's full of shills and stupid FUD/FOMO. Go to Twitter, follow high profile traders. They know what they're talking about, not some stupidass redditors or bitcointalk people.

Do yourself a favor and do that. No problem, I've just given you a shortcut to life. For free.

The power of the internet. You guys are fucking welcome.

[–]Radinax0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

Which traders you recommend following?

[–]DieEinfalt 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

might do a writeup on this. For now: CryptoCobain, CryptoRogue, Djthistle, kazenomics, Angelobtc (fucking legend). Mass follow every crypto guy with 20k+ and then unfollow after you get a sense if they're a shill or do some legit TA.

[–]Radinax2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

If you can please do it, the sub has too much masturbatory theory about women which is alredy in the sidebar, stuffs like the benefits of a healthy diet (IF, Keto, etc), ways to earn power are really refreshing to read. Also thanks for the users in twitter, this year I want to get into Cryptography, Smart Contracts and being a Blockchain developer so learning about the market is a must for me.

Best time? there's no jobs, just debt or jobs filled with cuntish women, rape accusers for greeting hello and the whore machine complex is running rampant with picky women choosing a ons with some douchebag per night and social media filling the days for women and men.

Western Government and courts and culture tightening the vice, especially on unattached males.

This is the dark ages, trust me - i am 32 and at no point in the last 10 years has anything seemed like it was improving for men or myself.

[–]DieEinfalt 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

Natural selection at work here.

All the best. I won't convince you, you have to do it yourself.

[–]room_3033 points4 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Of course, but this childish RP/MGTOW rhetoric of fantasizing as if one day swarms of angry RP men will attack the citadels, banks and governments (all steel fortress's by that time surely 'manned' by women in nice secure workplaces collecting plenty of money and laughing down at how naive it is to think one day dick will be more valuable than pussy) and overturning the 'false direction' our society took and they were wronged by, thus equalizing their (our?) shattered egos (and in turn providing them with a stable and sure standing as a strong man with sexual gifts) is becoming more and more outright ludicrous.

[–]Satou42 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd stay away from some of that toxic mgtow angry material. The revolution doesn't come for everyone, nor does it come for free.

[–]1htbf1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

No such rhetoric in this topic.

[–]Jonlife45 points46 points  (7 children) | Copy Link

Seriously, the trending thing among Red pill snd mgtow is "get your money right." That means putting yourself and your goals before women, friends, and even family...which will always be trying to drain you or throw you off course. To those of you who have a loving family that actually helps you grow and prosper, you're lucky. But to the rest of you who who have a fucked up life from day one, an abusive mother or father, or a manipulative girlfriend/wife/sister/brother... Cut them out of your life. Get far and away from them.

Those toxic family members are not there to help you. They simply had lots of sex, pregnant, and had, but that doesn't mean they know how to raise a child in a healthy environment. A lot of people are torn about this thinking that they need to keep them around simply because you came out of their vagina or were created from their sperm.

Understand there are people who are there to help you or who want to take advantage of you by constantly making you feel guilty. The more money you make the harder this will be to discern.

Right now I've cut out anyone in my life who tries to criticize my previous life decisions. It's mainly family members who can't get over the fact that I've grown up and not the same person I was when I was in my teens or twenties. It's even previous co workers who were above me at the time and who think they'll always still be above me even though I've moved on to another position from a different company.

Respect is earned, not given. Whether dealing with family or co-workers, never forget that. Respect is earned. And your reputation is everything. If and when you make mistakes (and you will), own up to them and take ownership of your fuck up. You may even get fired but know when to take responsibility. That builds character and you may be hated for a while by your friends or co-workers, but none of them will be able to say you're not a man of your word.

People will hate you. Be prepared to have haters. Whether it's women who didn't get to tie you down, or your own family members. People get envious for the strangest reasons, and most of them will never let you know. This is beyond your control but that doesn't mean you shouldn't plan for it. Always have a plan on what to do if and when you get singled out to be the the scapegoat. We're currently seeing this sort of thing with men and this #MeToo campaign where anyone you fucked in your past can come forward 20 years later and claim you raped or harassed them.

Which leads me to my next point... Don't flaunt your success by trying to buy all this junk you don't need. All these men getting accused were in powerful positions and most of it is a cash grab for these women who want a piece of what the man has accumulated over time. Fucking a woman who works with you can now bite you in the ass twenty years later. Don't shit where you eat and def don't get any of these dumb cunts pregnant...or prepare to give half of what you earn for the next, 18 years of your life.

[–]anklesandal0 points1 point  (6 children) | Copy Link

Hopefully you didn't go broke. Start living like you don't have any money and stop trying to show off by doing what every blue pill cuck does. It sounds like you're still trying to impress women or friends. You don't have to impress anyone. Invest any and all funds and aquire currency

start saving. ... Compound interest means the sooner you start saving, the sooner you'll be a millionaire. 10% of your income. You won't miss it.

You (yes you, reader) should always have a minimum of 3 months money saved up. Enough that you can walk out of your job and you have 3 months to find another. You wouldn't believe how much of a stress relief this is. This will help your job - you can focus on being awesome at your career rather than being concerned about your job in the short term.

Compound interest is just not as applicable as it was 30 years ago. You currently get something like 1% above inflation. This means your $1000 invested now is only worth $1500 after 40 years. The markets have changed, the return on risk-free cash investment just isn't there any more.

What you (yes you) can always do is invest in yourself and in your life and in your career. Always do an awesome job at work, save hard (so you have options!), and spend some of your spare time actively working on something bigger and better. Use your main job to cover your expenses, do riskier things in your spare time.

Invest your cash in increasing your networking, schmoozing people who can benefit you later, getting reliable/easy transport, living somewhere that benefits you and your lifestyle, or buying the tools you need to do better in life (eg studying, decent computer, decent phone, whatever is needed for what you want to do). The return on this investment can (if you're even a little wise) is vastly more than 1% per year because you are using cash to multiply up the income you get from the work you will do anyway.

If I had one piece of advice that I would share from my life, career/moneywise it would be this: go for more interviews. Try hard to get the next level up in your career. You can do 4 interviews a year at negligible cost to yourself. With 1:8 success rate that means a new job (and pay raise!) every 2 years.

Yet people don't do this, waiting for a meagre promotion, only leaving when their job is untenable. This doesn't apply to you, dear RP reader, because your ego doesn't prevent you trying, and you have 3 months salary saved up so you can easily afford to relocate. Get to it, if you haven't already.

How bad do you want the life you want?

The critical thing here is self belief. More people would work at more things if they believed there is a payoff.

Two things you can do here that help:

  • First, save up enough that you only need to win on average. This means you don't need every ebay purchase to be delivered, you don't need every date to work out, you're never worried about your last fucking dollar.

  • Second: start doing things you CAN do. Do more of this and learn that you can do things and they will work. Do the big stuff if you can. If not, do the small stuff. Build the life you want. If not, build yourself to the point where you can.

Hijacking this post to add, if you are in debt, get out of debt, now. Treat it like a cancer. It's hard to build up a good financial foundation when you are having to pay interest to banks.

I foolishly got into a lot of student debt, and have been working 3 jobs 7 days a week to get it all paid off in a couple years. If I paid the minimum each month instead, it would take 25 years to pay it off plus tens of thousands of extra dollars in interest. Instead I said fuck it, took 2 extra side jobs and will have it done by Summer of 2019. I may not have much of a life for 2 years but I will be thanking myself later. Short term pain for long term gain. I could easily take the salary I make at my main job($90k) and just pay the minimums each month and live a good lifestyle but I have bigger things in mind.

I talk to other people I know with debt who are content with paying the bare minimums each month and letting that shit drag out for years.

[–]dontbethatguynow3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Theres good debt and bad debt. Being able to differentiate is the key... good debt is a money maker.

[–]Psychocist0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Wish I could, man. I'm in about $20k debt, but I've moved out of the country (not for that reason), and I don't nearly have the means to pay it off. I'm building a software business, so the plan is to pay it off in larger chunks as things start to take off. Course, no idea how long that will take.

Rather than grind myself to the bone to pay it off in a year or two, I'm going to focus on drastically increasing my earnings.

[–]Urqerwood5 points6 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

The original post made some great points but your contribution is excellent. I recently made a decision to cut the bullshit from my life and moved from a big old rambling place, which cost a fortune to heat and was still cold all the time. I was there because it was in a "good neighbourhood" and I thought I was a high roller living there. I now live in a 2 year old smaller place (which suits my lifestyle better - there's only two of us now) and have saved a shitload in bills.

Your right about the money - there is no safe investment though, if you're young, you could probably invest in a market tracking EFT and come out on the right side in the long-term (10-30 years). I love your answer about investing your money in yourself - always a good investment.

And the interview advice is also on the money. Took me a long time to realise that I constantly should be planning my next career move and exit strategy.

[–]Senior EndorsedMattyAnon5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Took me a long time to realise that I constantly should be planning my next career move and exit strategy

Yeah, you should. Your employer doesn't give a fuck about your career. Often you'll be held back because your manager doesn't want to be threatened - they want you to be their bitch. You should be friends with your manager's manager for this reason.

I'm lucky because I spotted the career progression second I entered the workplace, and lived by it. I'd joke with my friends about the pay raise I'd given myself this year "just like last year and the year before" - by going to a new place and demanding more money. They looked at me like I was from another planet.

There were dips and glitches, but mostly it's been an upward rise. I didn't let anything stop me (and still don't) - including being fired (twice), being made redundant (at least twice), failure, success.... I treated it all the same and moved upwards after it.

Realistically not everyone can do this as well as I could..... but 99% of the population can do a lot better than they are doing just by trying harder at their career rather than working harder at their job.

[–]truedemocracy31 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

'come out on the right side long term' you are underplaying this. You NEED to invest in a market tracking EFT. If you dont make massive gains from it long term then you will have bigger problems than your retirement (the collapse of the American economy being one)

[–]truedemocracy34 points5 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Wait .... what? When people refer to the power of compound interest they almost always refer to the stock market, where an SP500 index fund returns 8% per year on average. This past year the market returned around 24%

1,000 invested today will be worth more than 10 grand in 40 years. not 1,500.

[–]Imalostman_2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

How do I do this? I do not live in the US, but I've saved some moneyz up.

[–]truedemocracy32 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Open up a brokerage account. I use TD Ameritrade. Put money in a passively managed index fund that tracks the S&P 500, I recommend Vanguard. Keep putting money in it and ignore the day to day, the market will rise over time (historically by 8%).

You don't need to live in US to invest in it but the best place to put the lump of your savings as long as you don't need it immediately. I put 20% of my salary towards this every year.

[–]Psychocist0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Agreed. I'd rather raise my earning capacity than my capacity to save, and I'd rather reinvest what I would have saved into my earning capacity (i.e. business). So long as my living expenses are covered for a month or two, I'll be fine.

It's a true shame there is no standard education about becoming a financially secure adult all through school - should be a HS course like math.

If you believe that schools are designed to produce well-behaved slaves to authority, it makes sense why this isn't the case.

Additionally, I would add -- learn. And don't stop. Read Karl Marx, Adam Smith and Ayn Rand, for understanding. Read Shakespeare, read Dosteyevsky, read the sidebar, but dont stop there. Never stop learning -- it's what keeps your conversations fresh. Join Toastmasters, learn how to speak properly.

If you're a minority, don't use it as a crutch, we are all minorities in some form or another. Remember that the ideal man (Chad, if I'm not mistaken, in these parts) doesn't exist, the ideal man to one woman may be 5'4 (like me) or 6'3 (like my brother) -- we both get enough pussy. It's all in how you carry yourself.

Onto lifting, lifting will strengthen your core so that you can convey confidence. Remember, the world isn't about reality, it's about showmanship. So, get out there, lie, cheat and steal, the ends do justify the means, for in the end, we're all dead.

Read Karl Marx

If you jumped into a time machine and went to talk to him in his last couple years of life, he'd tell you not to bother. He became increasingly frustrated that he could find no answers to the problems he identified, while finding new problems that seemed to contradict is earlier works. Ultimately he came to the same conclusions we have--humans are assholes, so stop trying to make them look and smell better. Despite all the shit that comes out of them, we need to accept that they exist and deal with it accordingly.

[–]FinallyRed8 points9 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he adds Marx to the list for understanding his ideas and their influence on others. You don't need to believe him to find his work useful.

[–]1htbf-2 points-1 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure you're understanding the comment you're answering.

[–]FinallyRed0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Low effort comment. Why don't you explain how I've misread? Max said Marx is not worth reading because he was wrong. I said he is worth reading, not because he was right, but because his ideas live on to be massively influential.

[–]1htbf0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

He didn't say he is not worth reading dude. He just developed on Marx in general, adding insight. And you jumped in to give OP "the benefit of the doubt" event though OP is not accused of anything and max was adding, not arguing.

Don't attribute to malice what can equally be attributed to incompetence. Schools employ people who themselves are absolutely average. How can you expect the mediocre to teach others to be anything but?

[–]Rian_Stone7 points8 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]theycallmenubs4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I liked what you said until the end about the ends justifying the means. Sure you can, but at the end of the day you have to live with yourself. I personally choose to be my most authentic self. To get my needs fulfilled first in a sustainable way; which is not lying, cheating, stealing, etc. You can get all your needs fulfilled, every wildest dream imaginable and not be an unethical person. You can do whatever you want, obviously, but at the end of the day my needs are met and I can still look at myself in the mirror and realize I did it all from a true place of authenticity, without having to trick or hurt others. To know people actually like me for me and not their perception of me.

[–]fullspeedornothing- 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

Capitalism as a free-market ideology exists nowhere on planet earth. Where there are governments, there is no capitalism.

You're going to have read about anarcho-capitalism (Ancapistan) if you want to get the actual definition of capitalism, not the coopted version most people take it for. Capitalism is the way reality works.

[–]Rian_Stone6 points7 points  (14 children) | Copy Link

I use it as short hand for the current system.

didn't know you wanted to get all pedantic about it. Outside of the scope of the sub, if I want to talk ancap, I'll go to ancap

[–]fullspeedornothing- 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

The overarching point is to use correct terminology. The Western world is not capitalist. That is 1984 double-speak.

Becoming the strongest version of yourself means realising many terms have been coopted. You're acting like a useful idiot when you use their words.

Crony capitalist, okay. Oligarchy, yes. These are more accurate descriptions.

The point I'm making is that you're giving capitalism a bad name. That is incorrect. True free market capitalism is the only way to live.

[–]Rian_Stone4 points5 points  (12 children) | Copy Link

Slow down there, hyperbole much?

The universe doesn't make straight edges. No one is capitalist, no one is socialist.

True free market capitalism

So is true communism. So is utopia. None of them will ever exist. Better way to phrase it is like calculus. Everyone is trying to approach their own 0, but they never reach 0.

[–]fullspeedornothing- 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

Found the post-modernist.

Truth exists, morality exists, universal truths exist. Moral relativism is the nectar of the fools.

Mankind just hasn't been given the right tools to make this happen. By 2025 we'll have our Ancapistan, as all you weak-willed individuals start using gold and silver as digital money again. As government death grip starts to wane, you'll see the world for how it really is.

[–]Rian_Stone7 points8 points  (10 children) | Copy Link

box me up however you like.

I'll leave you with two pieces of wisdom. never steered me wrong. Once you are in your 30s, you'll probably start to understand what they mean.

  1. the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent

  2. nothing is ever perfect.

universal truths exist

This is like saying evolution creates improvements. It's just adaptation. Universal (snapshot) truths exist, the trick is to separate them from aspirational truths (aka your ancap 2025 revolution) into utility.

ie

start using gold and silver as digital money again.

By the time this happens, you will probably be cannon fodder for the toughest guy on the block to secure more women and wealth. Hope you spent your time lifting and leading people.

[–]dustyneedles17 points18 points  (16 children) | Copy Link

truly the leader of the blue pill? please explain.

[–]Endorsed ContributorSorcererKing17 points18 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

It's all about Collectivism as ethics. The Blue Pill is all about putting other things/people above yourself. Communism is the secular version, where one is to sacrifice himself to the collective via the government.

There are others. Gender tribalism (feminism) asks you to sacrifice yourself to your gender, racism (e.g. BLM, white ethno-statists) asks you to sacrifice yourself to people who share some physical appearance characteristics, nationalism asks you to sacrifice yourself to those who have the same citizenship, religion (mysticism) asks you to sacrifice to the (unknowable) mystical forces of the Beyond. All of the proponents of these "-isms" want to hijack your life for their benefits and purposes. Resist, stay free.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

He created an ideology based on two massive falsehoods, first that most humans can be motivated to work or invest capital for any reason other than personal gain, and second that markets can be abolished and replaced by central planning. These are two of the most obviously false things to ever be accepted by large numbers of people. I'd say creating an ideology based on untrue beliefs that leads to the death and enslavement of hundreds of millions of people is just about the most blue pill thing you can do.

[–]_clay_davis1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s pretty important to read something that has had such an effect on the modern world. It makes you an interesting person to be able to intelligently discuss it.

[–]tetroxid1 point2 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

Almost everything that Marx wrote was criticism of capitalism, and not on communism. It's pretty interesting actually. You don't have to agree with it, you just have to read it. Or are you afraid it will broaden your horizon?

[–]Prot691 point2 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

I've read it. I view his work from an economic point, you view it from it's ideological side. Marx did try to create various economic theories, including taking a shot at labor theory of value from there on theory of price, then when he met a constrictive criticism which dismantled his whole work he announced he'll deal with it in the next volume and kicked the bucket shortly after. Way to go lol, such value.

If I wanted to broaden my horizon I'd have hundreds of other books that are filled with actual knowledge. Time is a resource, do not waste it on Karl Marx.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank you. He reached untrue conclusions based on faulty understanding of human nature. There is nothing to be gained by reading him, except possibly to understand your enemy.

[–]CloudGuide1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Marx's connection of the LTV to capital is unique and is worth investigating from a purely intellectual perspective. That there's criticisms either way doesn't change this. As far as I'm concerned that the economic value is determined, or determined in quite some manner, by labour input seems to have some truth, and if it was true, then there does seem to be some of the other implications Marx says.

[–]PoeticalArt2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

This shit pisses me off. Marxism has had a massive impact on the modern world, and to pretend otherwise is blatant ignorance. Karl Marx was, like you and me, and imperfect individual. A man. And his views on life were the result of his experiences in life. Just like you and me.

So, yeah. Read Karl Marx. Understand why he was how he was. Understand the pros and cons of his views.

No system of government is perfect. Socialism hurts itself. Capitalism hurts itself. Libertarianism hurts itself. They're tools to be used in the proper situation, and just because you disagree with something doesn't mean it lacks value.

[–]CloudGuide2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Karl Marx also wrote great critiques of other socialists/anarchists, more so than your garden variety libertarian/alt-righter.

10% of your income. You won't miss it.

It's really incredible that people can't do this. Incomes have been rising for centuries (recently rising inequality blah blah blah, I know. The point still stands though), yet most people still can't save 10% of their money and they use only a fraction on actual necessities of life. It's not like they are medieval farmers literally consuming 90% of what they produce to stay alive.

I was thinking about why this is easy for some people and difficult for others, and I realized that it really has nothing to do with budgeting or planning. I've never had a budget in my entire life. It's more a matter of who how materialistic and consumerist you are. I don't have to budget because I have no desire to spend every dollar that comes in. It of course wouldn't hurt me to budget, but I'm not going to buy a new car when I get a raise or get a big screen TV when I get my tax refund because I just don't give a fuck.

If you're starting out, I'd suggest Schwab, Fidelity, or Vanguard.

Schwab currently is the leader in having the lowest expense ratios for their index funds, but Fidelity and Vanguard aren't far behind. IIRC Schwab has no minimum investment required to get their lowest expense ratios so they're a great place to start out.

IIRC Vanguard index funds tend to have excellent tax performance, i.e. they won't throw off a bunch of capital gains which are taxable.

Fidelity has surprisingly good trade execution for a discount broker which is important if you're putting in market orders for large lots of ETFs or individual stocks.

I'd start out piling money into low-expense stock index funds like SWTSX or VTSMX. To mitigate your risk, start easing money into bond index funds. Decide on a good stock/bond ratio and rebalance periodically. As your fuck-you money pile builds up, you can start a "play fund" (maybe 5% of assets) where you can try out individual stocks or other riskier investments like crypto.

dude I learnt that lesson not long ago - everything I'm doing; working out and saving money is all for pussy at the end of the day, and I'm a fucking idiot for pursuing it like that

Can’t stress the importance of financial freedom and the options it gives enough. For anyone who isn’t sure where to start, download Personal Capital or some other financial tracker and get your shit consolidated and where you can see it. Beats the hell out of having to log into 10+ accounts to keep track of everything. After that, figure out where you’re wasting money. For me it was eating out. Start meal prepping (eating healthier and saving money). Suddenly saving 200-500 dollars a month that you didn’t even know you had adds up quick.

Fitness/Finance are the two biggest things I see young men struggling with, and I’ve made incredible strides over the last 2 years. Lifting (Thanks GLO) and tracking my net worth has improved my quality of life 100x over.

I'm always happy when someone older and successful writes post here. It means I'm on the right track .

Opinions are common, everybody has one and you never need to defend an opinion. Knowledge, you need to work for that, and you will need to defend your base. Few have knowledge.

Well said. I'd sub wisdom for knowledge. Knowledge is something that can be "Googled" while wisdom must be earned.

[–]le_wolfe1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

If you want to change your life, change what's important to you

That's a dang good guide to this sub that comes with a dang good illustration along with it.

Thank you for your words, old man. In all honesty.

I'm in my twenties and a female, but I find this post really useful for every person that intends to follow the RP way of life.

Reaaaaaaaaad booooksssss. About japanese/chinese wisdom, about ancient Greece and works of their philosophers, about setting goals, Tony Robbins, Napoleon Hill, Sun Tzi, Laozi, about financial independence, Og Mandino, about health, about human body, about your hobbies, read literature, Omar Al Khayyam, Dalai Lama, about travelling. After you get into reading 50 pages after showering in the morning and 50 pages before going to bed your body will produce endorphins because your body knows that you are going the right way. And after not reading in the morning you will feel like you are missing something, like you still have some task to do. Make a goodreads.com account. Spend some money for books every month. Have your own library. Whenever i feel miserable or am in a bad mood i read another 50 pages.

Just my two cents. And hope this helps you guys. Love yall

Hey, of course.

I believe a person must read to feed his brain. A person must WANT to progress ant step forward, to step towards his goal. So I read because I want to learn something. I believe you want too!

At the beggining I was also afraid that this whole reading thing will become to some kind of race with myself. I thought that at some point I will begin to read in order to read and count pages, but not in order to learn something.

Everything that I read is easy to apply in real life, in everyday lets call it 'routine'. So you can immediately check how you learned your lesson/did your 'homework'.

Also. What do you mean by saying 'enough'? A little step is enough. You don't have to reach your goal after a day. Rome was not built in a day.

Being introverted isn't bad at all. It just helps you to concentrate on your thoughts, on your goals and to move towards them. I actually do not know if that is how being introverted works. Just guessing.

I believe I answered your question :---)

Younger man here, hope you see this, quick question. Firm believer in the lifting. My father instilled this in me to boost confidence and told me to not "waste my genetics".

So at 26 ive built a decent base. DB pressing 100's for reps power cleaning body weight and dips with added 45-70lbs of weight.

One thing I'm realizing about life right now is yeah, having muscle is nice. Bitches like it. Its programmed into their brains. But "financial security" is programmed in there too. Im noticing other people surpassing me "fortune" wise. I come from a wealthy family but fuck depending in some trust fund or shit, was raised to and take care of myself fully.

My question to get to the point. Was there ever a point where you "quit" lifting for a while or doing so seriously, maybe keeping it to body weight bs and running to help save up like you say to?

Admittedly for someone who is 6'1" 205 i eat a lot to maintain what I can. Grocery bull aint cheap.

[–]AircraftWelder0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I hear you on the grocery bill lol. 6’1 205-210, meal prep is a big help if you buy in bulk.

What if I don't crave anything too much? After 2 years of TRP, I have enough girls, decent physique, good game, sufficient cash. But it feels terrible not to be improving anymore. Just quit my last job because it had no meaning to me. Can't find a new passion.

I turn 20 tomorrow and needed this wake up call, thanks.

You skipped brain day.

We should not (nor should anybody) gloss over the importance of SELF knowledge and by that I mean assessing and owning your own emotional and temperamental make up.

No, not advertising or whining about them, but recognizing them and working to heal any wounds (if any) that may be causing you to seek false sources of happiness.

If you're on TRP, you've almost certainly got some anger, resentment or pain related to women.

I'm saying this not because I see it in other posters on TRP (though I do) but because I see it in myself. That's what led me here, and I highly doubt I'm the only one.

Despite the recognition on TRP that validation seeking is a destructive behavior, it's usually in the context of it just being wrong for strategic reasons.

The real danger issue with validation seeking is that it's indicative of a deeper issue (filling a void) that will manifest itself in other ways even once you start "spinning plates”

In many or most cases in your 20's you will start to act out subconsciously from past wounds.

Some past wrong. Being cheated on, being lied to, being ostracized by some group, being bullied, etc can lead you to make all kinds of decisions that can seem to make you 'stronger‘ but can actually fuck your life up if not confronted properly.

If you are young, and you have those lingering issues, you should reckon with those things BEFORE you make huge decisions about relationships and to some extent your career.

Meditation is probably the most productive way to do this, but so is remembering to actually connect with people.

Whether it's in a gym, church, book club or fucking fight club, it's important to know yourself.

Stay humble, because life WILL humble you.

Knowledge and intelligence is not the same thing as wisdom and experience.

Does this work in India? /s

[–]dustyneedles-3 points-2 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

i didn’t defend anything, just looking for an explanation.

blaming the blue pill on marxism is absurd. so absurd, you can’t elaborate. you only offer more ridiculous statements.

adam, the original man, was a blue-balled beta, taking that apple from eve when he knew that he shouldn’t.

fidel castro was the ultimate unstoppable alpha. the biggest badass this hemisphere ever produced. and he banged so many chicks he made wilt chamberlain look like steve urkel.

and there’s donald trump. we all know where he falls on the political spectrum. and have you ever seen a man repeatedly act so insecure?

[–]monadyne1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Much of today's blue pill mindset can be recognized as the male reaction to the massive incursions of feminism into the culture. Feminism (for better or ill) in the 1970's was all about equality between the genders, but has morphed into the nightmare it is today because of the influence of PostModern Neomarxist thinkers. Where the original Marxist struggle was between economic classes, i.e., the capitalists and the workers, Neomarxism shifted the focus from wealth as power to social grouping. Thus, white "cis" men are now seen as the new oppressors to be demonized, and any marginalized group (e.g., women, persons of color, gays, trannies, etc.) as the victim class to be molly-coddled. Victims may belong to more than one virtue group, such as a black lesbian with a disability to use an example, resulting in exalted victim status. In such a case the categories overlap as in a Venn diagram - which gave rise to the modern concept of "intersectionality."

So, while on first glance it might seem absurd that there's a relationship between marxism and blue pill-ism, it's actually there.

[–]king_of_red_alphas-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a big ass leap. Most people make this connection because “I hate libruls!” Etc.

Yes there are plenty on the left with a persistent victim complex, but there are TONS of right-leaning people with an insane persecution complex and creating a bogeyman out of just about anything (feminism, socialism, the media, etc)

The point is, sitting around blaming others for your shitty life is not a uniquely left phenomenon.

On TRP, despite all the self improvement talk, there is a pathological obsession with what feminists are doing and how it's fucking them over in countless ways.
