Red Pill TheoryBoredom is why you're Blue Pill (self.TheRedPill)

submitted by [deleted]

Boredom is toxic. It leads to wasting time and causes mistakes in your strategy. The following post describes both why boredom is the enemy and how to combat boredom.

Rule 1: Never text a woman because you're bored

You have nothing to do at the moment, so you decide to see what your woman is doing. Here's the issue with that: you will annoy her with your incessant texting. It will become addicting to rely on her to assuage your boredom. She will come to realize what is going on and she will hate you for it. You will become lame and unattractive. So whatever you do to cure your boredom, never text a woman.

Rule 2: Exercise

Exercise is a great way to release endorphins and close any feelings you have of boredom. It does require motivation to go out and exercise, but once you've brought yourself about to doing it you will feel much better.

Rule 3: Avoid masturbation

I will argue that masturbation, especially masturbation to porn, is a purely Blue Pill activity. Being bored can lead to masturbation tendencies because you get horny feelings when you are doing nothing. Rather, fight these tendencies and go out and build yourself up.

Rule 4: Avoid overeating

Being bored often leads to eating not when you're hungry, but just because you have nothing better to do. Cut this out. Instead, find something else to do instead of eat. Eating may give you warm feelings inside, but your weight will take a toll and in the long run you will regret it.

Rule 5: Read, write, study, learn

Boredom often comes from procrastination. Fight these procrastination tendencies and tackle what you need to tackle. Do the homework you need to do. Get ahead in your class. Research stocks and other investments that will make you money. There is plenty to do that you are putting off. Conquer boredom by putting these things on the forefront.

Rule 6: Get out of the house and stop oversleeping

When you're bored you may have tendencies of oversleeping. Get out of the house, sit at a coffeeshop, and find ways to alleviate your mind. Oversleeping is a terrible habit to get into and will ruin your circadian rhythm. Go for a walk, go out somewhere in public, and get yourself doing things.

Rule 7: Clean your place

Cleaning your house is a way to conquer feelings of boredom as well as become productive. Cleaning is simple, and requires minimal tools. The dividends from a clean house are fantastic, and you will feel accomplished after cleaning your place.

tl;dr/Conclusion: Boredom is the enemy. Make a conscious effort to fight it. Go outside, exercise, do homework in order to better your life and get that much closer to accomplishing your goals. And whatever you do, never text a woman out of boredom.

One great way to avoid boredom is to post frequently on the Red Pill.

I'm sort of joking around here because CaptainCringeworthy had a girl dump him recently and he's posting here on the Red Pill an awful lot to fill the void in his life. The posts aren't bad, but observing the volume of them masks his inner stress. (in my opinion)

CaptainCringeworthy will eventually tire of the posting and find other things to focus on. For now we have a high volume top level poster. (multiple per day)

My Advice

The OP (CaptainCringeworthy) might consider a "one top level post per day" routine in order to prevent excessive focus on this sub.

If the OP feels the urge for more then do it in response to other top level posts rather than top level new posts of your own.

I don't post because I have nothing new to say, or no new ways to say it. I can't bring myself to put up crap content or clickbait titled bs everyone should already know.

My field reports would be bland successes or obvious failures that I can troubleshoot myself.

Sadly purplepilldebate has more interesting shit 9/10 times these days. Signal to noise ratio is getting bad.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

i like the failure field reports more than the successes, both prove truths to the side bar.

[–]PranksterLad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for noticing this. Everywhere I looked Captain Cringeworthy was posting, surely we should implement max number of posting from someone in a week/day?

/u/shut_up_liar, I agree with your assessment, but I would also challenge you to provide a field report of your own. Your posting history is sparse and consists only of short comments. You should contribute to the discussion.

Criticism is easy. Taking criticism is much harder.

    [–]The_Good_Delusion 14 points15 points  (10 children)

Anybody that takes him or his advice seriously is a fucking loser.

Anybody that evaluates advice solely by the author's bio is misguided, quite literally.

    [–]Endorsed Contributorvandaalen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Absolutely this.

Knowing the concept of argentum ad hominem should be basic knowledge for everybody who is trying to improve his social skills.

Ideas are independent of the speaker.

I know that you know this too. You're just confusing wisdom with truth. A parrot can say something true, but that does not mean the parrot is wise.

If I'm broke and living on the streets are you going to take financial advice from me?

If it's related with what led to to end up homeless and I want to avoid such a result, why the fuck not?

I mean, is the marriage advice of a divorsed man bad because he ended up divorsing? Maybe he did because he had a bitch wife that asked him to put a hefty part of his fortune in her name and he said "no bitch, fuck off"?

In the same manner, if he's overweight and his advise is "don't eat as much as me, don't do the same mistake" is it automatically invalid because he's overweight? It's actually more valid than ever.

You can learn from the mistakes of others, especially when they truly model them. My guess is that you attempted to say "I can see they made a mistake but they'll try to sell it as if they didn't", but you can only draw 1:1 correlations with their situations and how they ended up to them after you have confidence in your knowledge, in which case you're not really out to learn new things, you're out to confirm what you already now.

It's much easier to look for "certified professionals" when it comes to learning a skill or studying a subject, because you can clearly tell that someone is a professor in X so you'd rather learn X from him than say anyone who isn't, but what you do in things where certs aren't a thing, like marriage? Also, being certified doesn't mean they're automatically right. True, a nutritionist knows more than someone who isn't, but when it comes to compare themselves to each other you suddenly get mixed impressions - stuff they agree and disagree commonly but things that aren't as clear cut. Who do you end up trusting then? The one with the most certs, the most experience or you just try until something works? Or something else?

Turns out things aren't as black and white as you might think. Don't confuse the easiness to tell a hue that leans to black from a hue that leans to white for having a keen eye.

        [–]trippinallday 2 points3 points  (4 children)

It's not inherently wrong, but it generally lacks depth and experience.

A fat dude telling you to eat less is right but it's not fucking helpful or good information, just basic logic. I'd rather have a nutritionist or a personal trainer telling me what types of foods to eat and how to work out because that's actual information I can put into action.

        [–]RPFlame -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Yes, but would you rather have a marriage counselor to advise you on where your marriage went bad or actually put your critical thinking cogs in actions and try to discern patterns by looking at both the couples they succeeded (and what does even success means for them, because if they get laid once every 5 years and that's a success for them, it's just their opinion) and the ones who failed.

We both look for the right kind of information AND the right kind of person to give it, and until then we use mental rules of thumb to dismiss all knowledge by pointing out that the one who's giving it isn't staying true to it. News flash: There was never a Stoic who was abiding to the rules of Stoicism 100% of the time, let's not claim that because they weren't applying it all the time Stoicism is bullshit. Let's not fall for tu quoque traps.

Edit: I was reading this article that spits truths about how to make yourself useful (it's red pill through and through). Guess what mental defense mechanisms the hamster who resists the information can use. Even tha author points it out.

*Focusing on the Messenger to Avoid Hearing the Message

"Who is THIS guy to tell ME how to live? Oh, like he's so high and mighty! It's just some dumb writer on the Internet! I'm going to go dig up something on him that reassures me that he's stupid, and that everything he's saying is stupid! This guy is so pretentious, it makes me puke!

And just like that the hamster avoided to counterpoint every piece of information across the article, if he can just point out a character flaw of the author or better yet whether the author successfully followed his own advice.

        [–]trippinallday 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Let me just tell you how I operate. When I take advice from someone, I ask two questions; Is this person in a position I want to be in? and Was this person in a similar position to me at some point? This has served me tremendously in my life and allowed me to improve myself drastically in anything I chose.

For example, when I was trying to start bulking and putting on weight, my good friend was strong as fuck and fat as fuck. But he had also been pretty overweight his whole life. So the answers to the two questions would be Sort of and No, respectively. Needless to say his advice of just lifting a couple times a week did not work, because he gains weight eating 1800 calories a day and builds muscle easily whereas I need 3500+ and a fuckton of protein to even gain significant muscle, let alone fat.

The fact that you're not only READING, but REFERENCING Cracked, a SJW clickbait website (EX: 5 Prejudices That Video Games Can't Seem to Get Over. Number 3 Will Horrify You!) tells me that you're not particularly intelligent or in a position that I wish to be in. Therefore I will not be taking your advice.

Criticism is necessary. It's how this community separated the good advice from the bad and refined it into the advice we proffer today.

/u/shut_up_liar's critique might be harsh, but it rings true, and it isn't trolling.

Your participation in the community is appreciated, but right now you are speaking when you should be listening - this much is evident in your writing, and in the advice you offer. Your words are like those of a man who has read a book, but who has not lived its events.

We are not here to tear you down or humble you because it gets us off. We are trying to help you. There is still work you need to do in your own life before you try offering up your advice as expert opinion.

          [–]SmilingWatermelon 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You make good points. Im a young man myself, as much as I know I may be ahead of people my age, I haven't experienced enough to offer sound advice.

So I don't post. I cant post, Until I know what im preaching is legitimate on my experience.

Although I truly do hope I can help this sub the same way your posts and many others posts have helped me.

Anyways thanks for sticking around after youve figured it out.

          [–]TRP VanguardHumanSockPuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words.

A good contributor is one who wishes to actually help people, rather than boost his own ego by looking like a sage. That's typically the first and best way to distinguish.

I'm sure you will be a good contributor when the time comes. But for now, don't let anything stop you from posting your field reports. Those are valuable no matter who they come from, so long as they are paired with introspection.

          Letters to Lucilius #29 excerpts:

"Of course, this is his choice. I’d rather speak to someone who wants to listen to what I’ve got to say. Even better, someone who will take my comments on board as a means to improve themselves. After all speaking to a person, one-on-one, is better than speaking to a crowd. I’m guessing that most people in a crowd only hear what they want to hear. They don’t hear what you have to say. Most of these people will simply react to what the crowd reacts to. But I suppose if you speak to enough people, with enough frequency, then maybe some of my words will make a positive impact?"

"I find that when speaking to a crowd you spend more time trying to please them, then getting your message across. What’s more, if they don’t recognise you as one of their own, then this lack of affinity means its an uphill struggle. But beware as if you walk on stage to speak, and you’re met with excessive clapping and cheering, then you’ve become an entertainer. This sort of learning is so important that people shouldn’t consider as trivial entertainment. And, remember, being popular doesn’t make you a good teacher."

"There will be a moment at which you may suspend, even abandon your giving advice. This is where the other person is unwilling to listen to you any more. When you are not getting any response from the other person at all."

Why does everyone on this sub feel the need to constantly go through other accounts' post history? It's a bullshit move based in insecurity. If you were actually confident in the shit you were putting out you wouldn't have had to compare it to whatever the guy you're responding to has put out.

But I guess you'll just do the same to me since I don't post as much as you do, therefore I must be some kind of inferior community member right?

          [–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I really hate when people do that. If I get into an argument here I'm arguing with the person's idea or thought, not the person themselves.

The guy made a point, maybe a bit harsh in my eyes, but still he made a valid point. And OP just looks through his account and completely ignores what he said.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me. God forbid you browse any drug related subreddit. People will dismiss anything you say about any topic and call you a junkie.

          [–]trippinallday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because we're literally here talking to a username. Post history gives us slightly more insight into the topics they're interested in and how their mind works. It's contextualization.

I'd value advice from someone who has a variety of interests and has previous successes more than advice from some effeminate dude who enjoys hotwifing. Same type of deal here.

Attacking the OP instead of the content of his posts is a chick move, dude. You have beef with him personally, take it to PM or move on with your life.

            [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Same boat my friend. I got out of a terrible relationship that ended in a divorce after 4 months. It took me a year of self improvement and confidence checks to get back out there. Then, I banged a couple HB8-9's, met what I thought was a great girl, and fell right back into oneitis. 6 months later, here I am again, going sober, working out a lot more, focusing heavily on my career and betterment... The great thing is I know how to get back there now- I did it before form far deeper depths. This is a chance to come out even stronger and more intelligent, and more sure of myself. Don't look at it as a negative, and don't worry that you're missing out on "THE party" or any bullshit. All that shit could vanish, and guess what you're left with? YOU. So work on you, forget the rest for now, and when you come out the other side the rewards will be hard to sift through.

              [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I'm on the verge of 2 really awesome jobs. What many would consider dream jobs. They won't make me rich, but I certainly won't have to worry about money and I'll enjoy my work. It's amazing how fast I got back in shape, even after a year of being out of the gym (man did that fly by).

I'm reinventing myself socially, since a lot of my life before depended on doing illegal shit that could fuck my record up. I wasn't a criminal or a junky, I just partied hard and had some reckless fun with racing and smoking. Thankfully I have a squeaky clean record and I intend to keep it that way. If that means it's a bit tougher to build my social life back up then so be it; I'm up for the challenge.

              [–]guest123420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

              "man did that fly by".

That's life, so fuck all the party and bullshit (Biggy!), get a dream job, kick ass, keep lifting, and make yourself awesome. Another year will fly by and you're just getting better. This just keeps increasing your SMV.

I think the problem with OP's posts isn't that they are low-quality, but rather the ones that I personally have seen on the front page tend to be these quick-fix, umbrella lists that tend to be popular on forums like this. That, or some rehashed/basic advice we've seen before. And sure, maybe there isn't anything wrong with reviewing the basics, but something about the constant posting drags the quality of each down in my eyes. If a different member posted each, I'd say this place was doing decent at the moment. But one guy, out of nowhere? It's a bit odd for me.

Actually, that's part of the advice in "No More Mr. Nice Guy". It's supposed to help you get over shame of your sexuality that was instilled in you in your childhood. There was a time when I found it very helpful, might have been just a placebo effect, though.

Alcohol + desperate makes you do lot of stuff. Every player gotta have hit some land whales a few times in their lives.

Never once fucked a land whale and never will. I have a strict rule that I won't bang a girl that weighs more than me.

How do you manage to get it up and stay hard? Can't imagine the alcohol helps with that aspect.

“For me the real evil of masturbation would be that it takes an appetite which, in lawful use, leads the individual out of himself to complete (and correct) his own personality in that of another (and finally in children and even grandchildren) and turns it back; sends the man back into the prison of himself, there to keep a harem of imaginary brides. "And this harem, once admitted, works against his ever getting out and really uniting with a real woman. "For the harem is always accessible, always subservient, calls for no sacrifices or adjustments, and can be endowed with erotic and psychological attractions which no woman can rival. "Among those shadowy brides he is always adored, always the perfect lover; no demand is made on his unselfishness, no mortification ever imposed on his vanity. "In the end, they become merely the medium through which he increasingly adores himself. . . . After all, almost the main work of life is to come out of our selves, out of the little dark prison we are all born in. Masturbation is to be avoided as all things are to be avoided which retard this process. The danger is that of coming to love the prison.”

make gym time all the time even when you're not bored

                            I can't stress Rule 5 enough.

It's awesome being able to kill 2 birds with one stone. You're entertaining yourself but also making yourself a more interesting man and gaining valuable knowledge. Whether it's philosophy that helps change your perspective and allows you to better handle life like Stoicism, psychology so you understand people better, economics and finances for your life endeavors, or learning about others who've achieved the things you want as well.

Hell even just reading some classics and sharpening up your vocabulary and making awesome impressions in job interviews or conversations with others and having something to talk about when you can connect over a cool book.

Just be weary of keeping yourself entertained with something that benefits you in no way too much. Sure, a bit of mindless entertainment might be necessary, but when you can keep yourself entertained and get something out of it I can guarantee it's always a better option than just leveling up in a video game.

good points. I never understood when people say they're bored. it's like, you have the whole fucking world in front of you and you're bored? lazy motherfuckers

                            [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Avoid overeating, avoid masturbation, stop oversleeping, never text a woman, etc..."

A lot of negative rules here. Not saying any of them are wrong, but these are all things that you should do automatically. A healthy and strong man has all these aspects of his life pretty much on autopilot.

So, potentially good reminders for new guys here, but if you want to advance in TRP these type of basic things need to be totally conquered to the point where you don't have to think "No! Stop overeating!"

As a lurker: the atmosphere around here is really getting more and more toxic. For me personally OP has hit a really important topic. I don't play games on my phone and when I get bored I usually just text randomly around. Exactly one of my issues. Sometimes I am even falling into the oversleeping habit as well. Something that is very hard to fight unless one has a super tight schedule or self-discipline. But it seems pointless opening up a discussion on those topics when all you guys are out to crucify OP.

Nothing is a more obvious sign of lack of ambition than boredom.

Before you go to bed set an alarm for 7-8 hours, give yourself an extra 30 mins to fall asleep and bam. You're guten

                            [–]sorceryofthetesticle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An overlooked habit for good sleep hygiene is to wake up and get out of bed at the same time every day, even if you have a late night. Your body adjusts and you eventually get tired around the same time every night (assuming you have other good habits like no stimulants late in the day, minimal artificial light at night, adequate exercise etc.)

If you're bored often, then you have a problem - you don't live an interesting life. My suggestion would be get some hobbys, join a social sports league, start a business. When you do occasionally find yourself bored, do something to improve yourself. There's always something you can do you're probably procrastinating on because it's not fun. Whatever you do, don't fill your time with video games or binge watching TV.

Great post; you may want to try publishing this outside of TRP. This is great advice that both women and men can benefit from! Edit: part about never texting a woman should be true to al people IMO, it's a non-productive way to alleviate boredom.

Seriously this dude is killing the quality of this sub. And the fact that so many neckbeards are supporting his shit shows how far the lurk here still has to go. Shut the fuck up and go lift kiddo.

That means every time you text her it's a signal you have nothing better to do. Think of it in a tribe. Rather than hanging with the men (which should be almost all the time), you're hanging out with her. Makes you look lame

                              [–]Jamesevr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That might quite possibly be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Nah it's just about how to text the woman. She may even like being used to combat your boredom. But if you text like a bitch she'll be turned off.
