The red pill is an idea whose time has come.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (9 children) | Copy Link

Especially for younger men. I believe my generation (mid 20s) has seen many deceptions. The NSA has come to light, EVERYONE lied about college and urged us all to take on mountains of debt for useless degrees (luckily I recognized this and dropped on my freshmen year to start my career), and last but not least! Third wave feminism.

[–]Kharn06 points7 points  (7 children) | Copy Link

What career did you work on?(looking for ideas)

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (6 children) | Copy Link

Web development. It is an industry where a solid portfolio that exemplifies your knowledge can mean as much if not more than a degree. Keep in mind this statement is bullshit if you want to work at huge companies (unless you are an absolute rockstar that is). I prefer smaller companies, so it works out well for me.

A lot of free online resources for learning and nearly no investment beyond your own time and hard work. Meaning, you already have a computer probably... so do something useful with it. =)

No, gods please no. As someone who does interviews for a major international corporation they most certainly value proven experience over a piece of paper that says you can bullshit for four years. Our web team couldn't give two shits about a degree but they certainly do care about your ability to find creative solutions for some of the crazy non-standard shit we gotta deal with.

You made the right choice, rack up that experience and make sure it's all documented and qualified somehow. Our biggest problem when dealing with HR idiots is their obsession with education. Thankfully HR only process's the paperwork, the actual hiring authority is the one who actually negotiates salary and does the hiring. It's like this a lot in big companies, HR is only used to screen out the anonymous applications, if you know someone inside they can plant your resume directly in the hands of the HA or one of his people. Exponentially increase's your odds of getting hired.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Thank you for the insider knowledge. From what I have seen, many large companies list the degree as a requirement without the tagline: "Or equivalent experience"

They list BOTH experience and the degree as separate requirements. Perhaps this is something that should evolve.

[–]3trplurker3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

It's the difference between how HR mechanically lists the requirements and how the section chiefs determine the requirements. HR folks have no fucking clue what's needed to do a job, so they just type in whatever the fuck they think.

In IT it's 1 year education = 1 year experience at the lowest position. Actual experience is valued greater though since during the technical interview (the one where I'm calling the applicant and judging their competency) you'll be asked which projects you've worked on and various other questions that a college grad will have no fucking clue how to answer. Afterwords I've interviewed a score or more of candidates I'll end up passing my recommendations list to my boss. It'll be a list of about four or five names ordered from first pick to last pick, then he'll call each and do his own interview / negotiation.

[–]strimpboi2 points3 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Can you share some of these free online resources? I know codecademy, but that's it.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

This isn't an exhaustive list, but a good start:

Also, after learning the basics on how to put something together... you can simply look at the API of any popular framework and build some awesome stuff:

The list goes on and on. Let me know if you have any other questions

[–]2johnnight0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. The same amount of years spent acquiring professional experience triumphs years spent in education. And as a happy bonus you get money.

It depends on the job though, because some industries require that degree to let you work.

This means that the optimal decision depends on the industry one wants to work in. There are two optimal paths: either you need to maximize your academic achievements or you should totally ditch school and maximize professional achievements.

The worst path is to go into debt, spend too much time in academia and then go into an industry, which does not need that degree.

[–]vivalaredpill8 points9 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

As a fellow scientist, I agree but tried to think about what could disprove your assertion. The only thing I can think of that might disrupt the movement is the decline of the West, which is imminent.

But then I realized:

  • If I'm wrong and there's no decline: TRP will continue to grow.

  • If the decline is gradual: TRP will still grow, uninterrupted.

  • If the decline is sudden: ...the luxury of ignorance will become unaffordable, and TRP will grow.

Nothing can stop this.

There is no such thing as bad publicity.

That doohnosal at the bar that "everyone" hates? He is getting laid tonight and you are fucking righty.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

There's no such thing as bad publicity when you have nothing to hide and are only telling the truth.

Those feminist students who sent themselves rape threats, those femen bitches desecrating a church and spitting in the face of peaceful Catholics, SRSters who ban and delete all dissent. THAT'S bad publicity.

[–]slcjosh6 points7 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Bad publicity is good publicity. They are feeding their own demise.

[–]Kombaiya5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I noticed that. I was wondering why when I was comparing trp to great expectations...not exactly controversial stuff...

[–]Senior Contributordeepthrill15 points16 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

There's another aspect of this to consider. While a big part of me wants TRP ideas to spread throughout society, in regards to sexual strategy, additional coverage may not actually be a good thing.

If you think of it as an inefficiency in the market, we are the early ones who are taking advantage of that inefficiency and profiting. But once it becomes widespread and known, the inefficiency disappears.

Kind of like the first few pickup artists 15 years ago or so. Their techniques were honed and worked. But then The Game came out, and suddenly those techniques were not as effective, because people were aware of them as such.

I'm not sure I have a point to this, because as a core group I know we will adapt to whatever changes are thrown at us, but there is some selfish advantage to not being widely known. Although I think society and relationships in general will benefit from the increased publicity.

[–]_MrMan_11 points12 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The difference with early pickup artists and the red pill is the red pill is more of a mindset than a bunch of lines and routines. The red pill can not be diluted.

Early pickup artists were much more "outer game" focused. They dressed up and performed magic and came up with little games. Once all that went mainstream they couldnt do that anymore.

So what happened? Well now the pickup industry is more "inner game" focused. More leaning towards the red pill in that regard. It's working on yourself. Once you make yourself attractive and shift your perspective then attractive things will come out of your mouth. Thats red pill.

Basically what Im saying is confidence, assertiveness, self esteem, and all the main tenants of this place are eternal. Even if every man became red pill there will still be better men than others. Competition never ends and I say we could all use a kick in the ass from time to time.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Hamsters gonna hamster. Nothing we can do to help/hinder that.

[–]bigredpill10 points11 points  (10 children) | Copy Link

Most, or at least a good portion of guys already know that the ideas behind TRP are correct. All we do here is put words to those ideas and provide examples.

Honestly, who's going to deny that going to the gym, dressing better, and improving yourself in general is not going to improve your success with women? Social conditioning can only do so much, eventually basic logic will win out.

[–]semigod__2 points3 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

whats the link to the overall growth? / link to stats page? this?

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 3 points4 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Statit hasn't updated since spring unfortunately. I'd love to see what it says now..

[–]semigod__1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

cant you allow what /u/quickquestionfor describes in his post?

[–]quickquestionfor1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

You can see the subreddit traffic statistics if you allow it as per an admin post 4 months back.

"Moderators may now choose to set their subreddit's traffic statistics page (e.g. /r/changelog/about/traffic[1] ) publicly visible by checking the "make the traffic stats page available to everyone" checkbox in subreddit settings." which then shows all relevant statistics. I sent you a message about it a few days back but you probably missed it in all the recent shenanigans.

Here's the data I collected yesterday as the subs were coming in:

http://www.reddit.com/r/TheRedPill/comments/1snofn/hey_were_the_second_worst_subreddit_d/cdzeeto

And here it is in graphical form both with and without the final data point:

With

Without

With Time starting at 3:42PM EST and subs starting at 24,548.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Cool. I'm pretty sure we were at 24,400ish at the beginning of the day EST.

[–]CouldntFindGudName 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

At first I thought it was month to month traffic for the 12th day. Then I realized it's in American date format. Month/Day/Year.

Good for us. The sub reddit will grow, let them hate. I personally saw a few comments and posts where they state that they are here just because they read about TRP on being the worst sub and then got hooked.

[–]Nemester3 points4 points [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

When relevant, I always post a link to this sub. I do get some haters but it is a net good I would say.

[–]thecollegeplayer.netBostonsboy3060 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

There's no such thing as bad publicity

[–]BlackMM900 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, publicity definitely helps a sub grow, no doubt.

But the policy that only subscribers can comment is artificially inflating that subscriber number somewhat.

As one of those new subscribers, I'm interested in this sub, but almost never actually subscribe to subs. I only subscribed because there was no other way to comment.

I'm sure other people, some of those being trolls, subscribed for the same reason.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
